Job Overview:
The Design and Information Management Consultant position is a part-time role that requires the consultant to work from home, dedicating one day a week to support the Geneva Environment Network (GEN) Secretariat. The primary function of this role is to enhance the visibility and reach of the GEN by developing and maintaining its website and information systems. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring that the website platform is up-to-date, secure, and effectively meets the needs of the community it serves. This includes developing tools that support the activities agreed upon at the annual donor meeting and contributing to the overall communication strategy of the GEN, especially in relation to upcoming global environmental negotiations and major meetings. The consultant will work closely with the GEN Coordinator and the team to ensure that the design specifications for special events are implemented and integrated into the website, thereby enhancing the overall user experience and information dissemination.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: 1) Designing, developing, and managing information systems, including databases and the network website platform. 2) Analyzing existing modules within the system and developing enhancements and new features as needed. 3) Conducting testing and validation of applications used for data management and archiving. 4) Writing and developing programs to interface with existing systems. 5) Ensuring data quality and integrity across all platforms. 6) Implementing security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security measures to protect applications and data, adhering to best security practices. 7) Collaborating with the team to create design specifications for upcoming special events and integrating these into the website. 8) Making layout adjustments and troubleshooting based on user feedback to improve the overall functionality and user experience of the website.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in design or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in content development, design, and management of web platforms, particularly with WordPress. Experience working with other UN agencies in developing and maintaining web platforms, especially in the context of international Geneva, is also required. Strong computer skills, particularly in WordPress and other content management systems, as well as web applications, are essential. Candidates should demonstrate strong design and back-end web development experience, particularly in site building with content management systems and web applications. The ability to work independently and collaboratively, while managing tight deadlines in an organized manner, is also desirable.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in design or a related field is required for this position. In cases where a candidate holds a first-level university degree, they must also have two additional years of qualifying experience to be considered equivalent to an advanced degree. This educational background is crucial as it provides the necessary foundation for the technical and creative aspects of the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in content development, design, and management of web platforms, with a strong emphasis on WordPress.
