Job Overview:
The Public Health Officer plays a crucial role in coordinating public health activities under the supervision of the Coordinator of the respective public health programme or geographical location. This position involves working closely with local partners and the Ministry of Health to ensure effective implementation of health programmes. The officer is responsible for data collection, management, and analysis, which are essential for monitoring public health trends and responding to health emergencies. The role requires a proactive approach to community engagement and collaboration with various stakeholders to address public health challenges, especially during crises.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Public Health Officer has several key functions, including:

• Coordinating data collection and management activities, which involves compiling and analyzing data on target populations, managing information systems, and maintaining databases related to public health activities.
• Implementing programme activities in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, which includes following up on programme implementation, visiting communities, and preparing regular reports on health conditions.
• Taking initiative during emergencies to provide technical assistance in preparedness and response efforts, particularly in crisis situations involving refugees. The officer will also liaise with local partners to share data and provide technical feedback on health reports.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a first-level university degree in medicine, with a master's degree in public health being desirable. Essential qualifications include at least one year of experience in health sector coordination at either the national or international level. Experience with UN organizations, international institutions, or NGOs, as well as familiarity with donor reporting, is also preferred.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a first-level university degree in medicine. A master's degree in public health is considered an asset, providing candidates with a broader understanding of public health principles and practices.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of one year of relevant experience in health sector coordination, which can be gained through work in national or international health organizations. Experience in UN agencies or NGOs is highly desirable, as it demonstrates familiarity with the operational context and challenges faced in public health.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory for this position, as effective communication with local partners and stakeholders is essential. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
