Job Overview:
The Section Head of the Seibersdorf Laboratories Services Section (SLSS) plays a crucial role in overseeing the operations and management of the IAEA's laboratories. This position involves providing leadership to a diverse team of 35 staff members, including technicians and support personnel, ensuring that all site services are executed efficiently and safely. The Section Head is responsible for developing strategic initiatives, coordinating with various departments, and liaising with civil authorities and safety services. The Section Head must also stay updated on best practices in engineering and safety management to continuously improve service delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Section Head include leading the SLSS in achieving management results, planning and organizing team activities, managing facility operations, and ensuring compliance with safety and security regulations. The Section Head will evaluate team performance, manage resources effectively, and drive excellence in service delivery. Responsibilities also include planning and coordinating security measures, overseeing the disposal of hazardous materials, organizing training logistics, and implementing continuous improvement proposals. The Section Head must maintain a collaborative environment, encourage teamwork, and ensure open communication within the team and with external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree or an advanced university degree in technical engineering, facility management, business or public administration, or a related field. A minimum of 10 years of progressively relevant professional experience is required, including at least 5 years in an international context. Demonstrated experience in leading and managing medium to large teams is essential, along with a strong background in quality assurance and industrial safety. Excellent oral and written command of English is mandatory, and knowledge of other official IAEA languages is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's Degree or an equivalent advanced university degree in relevant fields such as technical engineering, facility management, business administration, or public administration. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of managing laboratory operations and ensuring compliance with safety and security standards.

Experience:
The position requires at least 10 years of progressively relevant professional experience, with a significant portion of that time spent in an international context. Candidates should have a proven track record of leading and managing teams, as well as experience in quality assurance and industrial safety practices. This level of experience is necessary to effectively oversee the operations of the Seibersdorf laboratories and to implement best practices in service delivery.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary working language of the IAEA. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.
