Job Overview:
The Senior Driver position is crucial for providing reliable and safe transportation services to UNFPA Representatives, staff, and high-ranking officials. The Senior Driver will be responsible for ensuring timely arrivals for meetings and events, managing vehicle maintenance, and adhering to organizational rules and regulations regarding driving and vehicle operations. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Driver will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: driving office vehicles for the transport of UNFPA Representatives, staff, and high-ranking officials; delivering and collecting mail and documentation; meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport and managing visa and customs formalities when required; keeping abreast of traffic and road conditions to ensure safe and timely arrivals; managing all aspects of vehicle maintenance, including conducting minor repairs and cleaning, arranging for major repairs, and keeping daily vehicle logs; obtaining security clearances for missions; ensuring compliance with UN driving regulations and vehicle maintenance procedures; tracking insurance and tax formalities; acting as a translator in the local language for official passengers when necessary; guiding and coaching junior drivers; assisting with general administrative duties as required; and performing any other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and have completed secondary level education. A Defensive Driving certification is preferred. Applicants should have a minimum of three years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven safe driving record. Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol, local roads and conditions, and defensive driving skills is essential. Additionally, candidates should have skills in minor vehicle repairs and basic computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and internet usage.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary level education. A Defensive Driving certification is preferable, indicating a commitment to safe driving practices and knowledge of road safety protocols.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least three years of relevant work experience as a driver, particularly in an international organization, embassy, or within the UN system. This experience should include a demonstrated safe driving record and familiarity with the driving rules and regulations applicable in the duty station.

Languages:
A working knowledge of English, the official UN language of the duty station, is required. Knowledge of local languages is considered desirable, as it can enhance communication with local officials and communities.
