Job Overview:
This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in the field of human resources within the United Nations. The intern will work closely with the Office of Human Resources (OHR) and will be involved in implementing the overall OHR communications strategy. The role is full-time and in-person, with a flexible duration of six months. The intern will gain exposure to various aspects of HR management, including communications, record-keeping, and information systems, while supporting the team in enhancing the effectiveness of HR strategies and initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks including liaising with different offices on communications requests, assisting in the review and publication of OHR communication materials, proofreading and editing content for various formats, supporting web content updates, and making proposals for improvements in web graphics and design. Additionally, the intern will assess existing records-management tools, contribute to record-keeping initiatives, draft notes and reports, compile statistics, and assist in preparing presentation materials. The role also involves supporting the implementation of other HR strategies as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). A background in human resources, public administration, or related fields is desirable. While professional work experience is not required, a relevant field of study is essential. Applicants should also possess good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel, and familiarity with synchronous learning tools and media design software is a plus.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in their final year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or completion must be provided with the application. Educational exposure to human resources or public administration is preferred, as it aligns with the internship's focus.

Experience:
No prior professional work experience is required for this internship. However, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework that relates to the responsibilities of the internship. This is an opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain practical experience in a professional setting.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this internship. Knowledge of French, Arabic, or Spanish is desirable, as these are also working languages of the United Nations. Proficiency in any of the UN's official languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish) is considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This internship is unpaid, and interns are responsible for their own travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses. For in-person internships in the USA, non-citizens must obtain a G-4 visa for full-time internships. Interns on non-immigrant student visas (F-1 or J-1) may only intern part-time.
