Job Overview: The Caseworker position is integral to the IRC's mission of supporting refugees and qualified immigrants during their resettlement process. This role involves providing trauma-informed services that facilitate a positive resettlement experience and promote client self-sufficiency. Key duties include: coordinating timely pre- and post-arrival services to provide essential support such as airport pick-up, housing arrangements, food, medical care, and transportation access; conducting intake assessments to evaluate client needs and developing individualized self-sufficiency plans with SMART goals; providing relevant services aligned with client goals, including financial assistance, public benefits applications, and referrals to medical and mental health services; monitoring client progress and addressing challenges to ensure resource utilization; documenting client interactions in compliance with program requirements; collaborating with coworkers and partner organizations to build relationships that benefit clients; utilizing personal or public transportation to assist clients; potentially training and leading volunteers and interns; and overseeing the preparation of homes for newly arrived clients to ensure they are move-in ready. Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Caseworker position should possess a Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field, although relevant professional experience in the human services sector may be considered in lieu of formal education. A minimum of two years of experience in a similar role is strongly preferred, particularly with refugee and immigrant populations.
