Job Overview:
The Caseworker position is integral to the IRC's mission of supporting refugees and qualified immigrants during their resettlement process. This role involves providing trauma-informed services that facilitate a positive resettlement experience and promote client self-sufficiency. The Caseworker is expected to work collaboratively with clients, colleagues, and external partners to create tailored service plans that address individual needs and preferences. This includes utilizing a wide array of resources such as financial assistance, medical care, and social services to ensure that clients have access to the support they require. The Caseworker will also be responsible for conducting intake assessments, developing individualized self-sufficiency plans, and monitoring client progress to help them achieve their goals. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to fostering meaningful interactions with clients throughout their service delivery period.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Caseworker's responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks aimed at ensuring the successful resettlement of clients. Key duties include: coordinating timely pre- and post-arrival services to provide essential support such as airport pick-up, housing arrangements, food, medical care, and transportation access; conducting intake assessments to evaluate client needs and developing individualized self-sufficiency plans with SMART goals; providing relevant services aligned with client goals, including financial assistance, public benefits applications, and referrals to medical and mental health services; monitoring client progress and addressing challenges to ensure resource utilization; documenting client interactions in compliance with program requirements; collaborating with coworkers and partner organizations to build relationships that benefit clients; utilizing personal or public transportation to assist clients; potentially training and leading volunteers and interns; and overseeing the preparation of homes for newly arrived clients to ensure they are move-in ready. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Caseworker position should possess a Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field, although relevant professional experience in the human services sector may be considered in lieu of formal education. A minimum of two years of experience in a similar role is strongly preferred, particularly with refugee and immigrant populations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong relationship-building skills, diplomacy, and the ability to navigate a multi-cultural environment effectively. Proficiency in database systems such as IRIS and Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) is desirable, along with strong problem-solving abilities and time management skills. Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation are essential, as is fluency in English, both spoken and written. Proficiency in additional languages spoken by IRC clients, such as Dari, Farsi, or Pashto, is highly valued. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and a valid driver’s license with access to a personal, insured vehicle are also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Caseworker position includes a Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field. The compensation for this role ranges from $26.00 to $27.00 per hour, depending on various factors such as labor market conditions, job type, and individual candidate experience.
