The incumbent will work closely with the FO Planning and Monitoring Officer to ensure timely data collection from implementing partners and develop visual products that support evidence-based decision-making, strategic planning, monitoring, and reporting. The role involves coordinating programmatic data reporting, enhancing data quality, and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders. The specialist will contribute to the analytical capacity of the office, ensuring that program implementation is informed by accurate and actionable data, which is essential for both emergency response and recovery efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Information Management Specialist will be responsible for managing the field office Area of Responsibility (AoR) 5W database, ensuring regular data submissions by implementing partners, and conducting data consolidation, validation, cleaning, and analysis. The role includes contributing to humanitarian performance monitoring by providing accurate and timely data for program planning and decision-making. The specialist will produce dashboards, infographics, and maps to facilitate better information use among team members and partners, maintain organized records of datasets and reports, and support capacity building of partners in information management practices. Additionally, the specialist will promote common standards and good practices in data management across partners to enhance interoperability and data use for decision-making.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in data management and visualization tools, and experience in humanitarian or development contexts. The role requires a solid understanding of information management systems and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with data collection methodologies and quality assurance processes is essential. The candidate should demonstrate self-awareness, ethical awareness, and a drive to achieve impactful results, as well as the ability to innovate and embrace change in a dynamic environment.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in information management, data science, statistics, social sciences, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in data analysis or information management are preferred and may enhance a candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in information management, data analysis, or a related field, preferably within a humanitarian or development context. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the specific challenges and needs of the Ukrainian context during the ongoing crisis.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in Ukrainian or Russian is highly desirable. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in enhancing communication with local partners and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer position, and the volunteer is responsible for organizing their own accommodation. The contract is full-time and may be extended based on funding availability and performance. The monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) is USD 1690, which covers housing and living expenses. Additional benefits include a one-time entry lump sum of USD 400, medical and life insurance coverage, and leave entitlements including annual leave, learning leave, and sick leave. The role does not guarantee renewal of the assignment, and the volunteer must be prepared for the challenges posed by the current humanitarian situation in Ukraine.
