The role involves working closely with the FO Planning and Monitoring Officer to ensure timely data collection from implementing partners and the development of visual products that support evidence-based decision-making, strategic planning, monitoring, and reporting. The incumbent will coordinate the reporting of programmatic data, enhance data quality, and support the effective use of information products for internal decision-making and donor reporting. This position is vital for ensuring transparency and accountability in UNICEF's humanitarian response and recovery efforts, particularly as the organization integrates humanitarian action with recovery and development approaches.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Information Management Specialist will undertake several key responsibilities, including:
Managing information systems and data analysis by overseeing the field office Area of Responsibility (AoR) 5W database, ensuring regular data submissions from implementing partners, and conducting data consolidation, validation, cleaning, and analysis.
Contributing to humanitarian performance monitoring by providing accurate, timely, and disaggregated data to inform program planning and decision-making.
Producing dashboards, infographics, and maps to enhance the use of information by team members and partners, while maintaining organized records of datasets and reports.
Supporting capacity building of partners on information management practices, including data collection methodologies and quality assurance.
Promoting common standards and good practices in information management across partners to improve data interoperability and comparability.
Performing any other related duties as required to support the effective implementation of the Country Programme.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong analytical skills and experience in information management systems. They should demonstrate proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools, as well as a solid understanding of humanitarian and development contexts. The ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and promote best practices in data management is essential. Additionally, candidates should exhibit strong communication skills and a commitment to UNICEF's mission and values.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as information management, data science, statistics, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in these areas are preferred and may enhance a candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience in information management, data analysis, or a related field, preferably within a humanitarian or development context. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the specific challenges and dynamics of the Ukrainian context.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Ukrainian or Russian is highly desirable. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in enhancing communication with local partners and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer assignment, and the volunteer is responsible for organizing their own accommodation. The contract is full-time and lasts for the duration indicated in the vacancy, with the possibility of extensions based on funding availability and performance. The position offers a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of USD 1690 per month, along with a one-time entry lump sum payment of USD 40
Medical and life insurance coverage is provided for the duration of the assignment, and volunteers accrue annual leave and sick leave entitlements as specified.
