Job Overview: The Procurement Officer position at WFP involves providing operational coordination and administrative services to support procurement activities and projects in accordance with WFP's procurement procedures and policies. The role requires the incumbent to support Country Programmes (CPs) and provide training on procurement activities related to purchasing livelihood items, agricultural products, and livestock. The officer will also be responsible for supporting engineering projects, onboarding vendors to smart sourcing, issuing tenders, conducting evaluations, submitting procurement cases to relevant committees, drafting contracts, and preparing Purchase Orders. A key aspect of the role is the ability to conduct market assessments for selected categories and identify efficient and cost-effective sourcing strategies, including processing Long-Term Agreements (LTAs). The position is crucial in ensuring that WFP's procurement processes are efficient and effective, ultimately contributing to the organization's mission of providing humanitarian assistance.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Procurement Officer will be responsible for a variety of duties, including but not limited to:
Providing operational coordination and administrative support for procurement activities in line with WFP policies.
Supporting Country Programmes (CPs) by offering training on procurement processes and best practices.
Assisting in engineering projects and vendor onboarding to smart sourcing platforms.
Issuing tenders and conducting evaluations of procurement cases.
Drafting contracts and preparing Purchase Orders for procurement activities.
Conducting market assessments to identify efficient sourcing strategies and processing Long-Term Agreements (LTAs).
Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective procurement operations.
Developing training materials and conducting capacity-building activities in procurement.
Maintaining accurate records of procurement activities and ensuring compliance with WFP standards. 1

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in procurement, agriculture, or livestock. Additionally, a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in procurement is required, with a preference for experience related to agricultural products and livestock. Candidates should demonstrate experience in developing training materials and conducting training sessions, as well as a strong understanding of procurement processes. Familiarity with ERP systems, databases, and electronic tendering systems is essential. The ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and coordinate effectively with various stakeholders is crucial. Professional qualifications such as CIPS or GAFTA would be considered an advantage.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position includes a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as procurement, agriculture, or livestock.
