Job Overview:
The Driver position at NRC involves ensuring the safe and timely transportation of project staff, goods, and materials to designated locations. The role requires strict adherence to traffic laws, road safety regulations, and organizational policies while driving. In addition to driving responsibilities, the Driver will assist in loading and offloading goods, conduct regular vehicle inspections to maintain roadworthiness, and keep accurate records of vehicle usage. The position also includes providing administrative support by maintaining logs of trips and assisting logistics teams with errands. Safety and security are paramount, and the Driver must follow security protocols, especially in high-risk areas, and report any incidents to supervisors. This role is crucial in supporting NRC's operational goals and ensuring the safety of all transported individuals and materials.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Driving Services: Transport project staff, goods, and materials safely and punctually to designated locations.
  • Adhere to traffic laws and organizational policies while driving.
  • Assist in loading and offloading goods as required.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct regular vehicle inspections, ensuring roadworthiness by checking fuel levels, oil, tires, brakes, and lights.
  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicles and report maintenance needs promptly.
  • Keep accurate records of vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules.
  • Administrative Support: Maintain accurate logs of trips, including destinations, passengers, and incidents.
  • Support logistics teams with errands, including purchasing supplies and delivering documents.
  • Safety and Security: Ensure the safety of passengers and goods during transportation. 1
  • Follow security protocols, especially in high-risk areas, and report incidents immediately. 1
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to support the organization’s goals and operations.

Required Qualifications:
  • Education and Licenses: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a minimum of class CM (Light Commercial Vehicle).
  • Proven track driving record.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of professional driving experience, preferably with Government, NGOs, UN agencies, or similar organizations.
  • Skills and Competencies: Strong knowledge of local and regional road networks, basic mechanical knowledge, effective communication skills, and a high level of professionalism and reliability. Training in defensive driving is an added advantage.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess at least a high school diploma or its equivalent. A valid driver’s license, specifically class CM for Light Commercial Vehicles, is mandatory. Additional training or certifications in defensive driving would be beneficial.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional driving experience. Experience working with governmental bodies, non-governmental organizations, UN agencies, or similar entities is considered an advantage, as it demonstrates familiarity with the operational context in which NRC functions.

Languages:
