Job Overview: The Driver position is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of clients, including Country Office staff, consultants, and visitors, to various destinations. Duties and Responsibilities:
Transport Country Office staff, consultants, and visitors to designated locations safely and efficiently.
Ensure the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of the vehicle at all times.
Perform routine maintenance checks on the vehicle, including oil changes, inspections, and tire pressure checks.
Arrange for major repairs when necessary and ensure all vehicle documentation is current and in order.
Plan routes based on the office schedule or special requests, ensuring timely arrivals.
Ensure that all passengers adhere to road safety regulations during transportation.
Fulfill special requests by picking up and delivering items as directed.
Provide protection for clients in locations deemed high risk.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
A valid driving license and a clean driving record are mandatory.
Must possess a trade test certificate.
Experience in operating large vehicles is preferred, or an equivalent combination of experience and training is acceptable.
Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety protocols.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
Educational Background: Candidates must have at least a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Additional certifications related to vehicle operation and maintenance are advantageous, particularly a trade test certificate that validates the candidate's driving skills and knowledge of vehicle care.
Experience: The position requires 0-3 years of related driving experience. Candidates should have practical experience in operating vehicles, particularly larger ones, and demonstrate a solid understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety practices. Experience in a similar role within an organization or company is beneficial but not mandatory for entry-level applicants.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Knowledge of local languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with clients and community members.
Additional Notes: This position is subject to general supervision, with detailed instructions provided for new activities or special assignments. The role is full-time, and while travel requirements are minimal (less than 10%), the driver must be prepared for occasional travel as needed.
