Job Overview: The Technical Officer position at EpiC Nepal is crucial for managing the Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) and nutrition project activities. The role involves ensuring the quality and effective implementation of project activities through collaboration with implementing partner agencies (IPs) and government authorities at various levels. The Technical Officer will work closely with local and national stakeholders, as well as technical experts from the EpiC team, to strengthen the capacity of IPs in technical areas and data management. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt global strategies to local contexts, ensuring that project activities align with the needs and priorities of the communities served.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Technical Officer will manage, supervise, and monitor project activities in designated districts, working alongside IPs to contextualize and implement technical strategies. Key responsibilities include designing and developing sub-agreements, conducting regular monitoring for compliance with FHI 360 regulations, providing technical support to IPs, preparing supervision and monitoring plans, and conducting onsite coaching and mentoring. The officer will assist IPs in performance assessment, support data analysis for program quality, conduct periodic program review meetings, and ensure timely reporting to relevant government bodies. Additionally, the role involves conducting data quality assessments, coordinating with stakeholders, managing petty cash for field office coordinators, and performing other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in public health or social sciences with at least three years of experience in health-related program implementation and management, or a Bachelor’s degree with five years of relevant experience. Experience in nutrition and MNCH-related services is preferred. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a proactive and independent work ethic, the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in both English and Nepali is essential, along with strong documentation skills.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in public health or social sciences is required, although a Bachelor’s degree in the same fields may be acceptable if accompanied by sufficient relevant experience. The educational background should provide a solid foundation in health program management and implementation, particularly in the areas of maternal and child health and nutrition.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of experience in health-related program implementation and management for candidates with a Master’s degree, or five years for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience in nutrition and MNCH-related services is highly desirable, as is a proven track record of working effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders in a health program context.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Nepali is mandatory for this position. Excellent oral and written communication skills in both languages are essential for effective documentation and interaction with stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
