Job Overview:
The Database and Application Support Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the development, configuration, and deployment of databases, applications, and websites in accordance with IOM's ICT standards and platforms. This position requires a strong focus on user support and technical services, ensuring that users of IOM's corporate applications and the UK country office applications receive the necessary assistance. The incumbent will contribute to the development and maintenance of software applications, automation solutions, and data analysis products, working closely with project managers to identify needs and clarify functional requirements. The role also involves monitoring trends in the field of software development and proposing new acquisitions to enhance IOM's capabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: supporting the development and maintenance of databases and applications; providing user and technical support for IOM's software tools; coordinating the implementation of ICT solutions; assisting project managers in identifying application needs; maintaining technical specifications for software tools; monitoring developments in software and automation; and conducting benchmarking exercises. Additionally, the officer will serve as a technical focal point for software development initiatives, ensuring effective communication and information exchange among diverse organizational units and external entities. The role also includes performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with four years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a high school diploma with six years of relevant experience is acceptable. Certification in Microsoft technologies or related fields is considered a distinct advantage. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in software development, database systems, and data visualization tools, as well as experience with web-based development tools and automation solutions.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field from an accredited institution is required. Accredited institutions are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates with a high school diploma must have additional relevant professional experience to qualify for the position. Certifications in Microsoft technologies, such as Azure or Power BI, are highly desirable and can enhance a candidate's profile.

Experience:
The position requires knowledge and demonstrated experience in software development, database systems, and data visualization tools. Candidates should have experience with web-based development tools, including automation using Microsoft tools like Power BI, PowerApps, and SharePoint. Additionally, experience in supporting the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of software applications and data analysis tools is essential. Familiarity with Drupal or similar content management systems is also required, along with the ability to provide technical guidance to non-technical stakeholders.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish, and proficiency in these languages may be evaluated during the selection process. Candidates should be prepared for assessments that may include written and/or oral evaluations to demonstrate their language skills.
