Job Overview:
The Project Assistant (Employability) will play a crucial role in supporting the integration of third-country nationals into the labor market in Greece, particularly in the Region of Crete. This position involves working closely with national and local authorities, as well as experienced partners, to implement the project 'Helios+: Comprehensive actions for the integration of third-country nationals into the labour market'. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing career counseling, mapping potential employers, and facilitating workshops and seminars aimed at enhancing the employability of beneficiaries. The role requires a proactive approach to connecting beneficiaries with job opportunities and advising them on necessary documentation to improve their employment prospects. The Project Assistant will also ensure accurate data management and contribute to the overall success of the project by collaborating with various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct individual and group career counseling sessions to support labor market integration.
  • Map potential employers and identify job vacancies suitable for beneficiaries.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration with private sector entities to enhance employability.
  • Facilitate connections between beneficiaries and job opportunities.
  • Organize workshops, seminars, and events focused on employability and access to the labor market.
  • Advise beneficiaries on documentation requirements such as driving licenses, language certificates, and official translations to increase their employment potential.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and maintain quality physical archiving of Means of Verification.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Team Lead or Project Assistant.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree or higher in fields such as Business Administration, Social Sciences, Law, Education, or Economics, along with a minimum of three years of relevant experience. A postgraduate degree or relevant training in career counseling is considered an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate a combination of knowledge, education, training, and skills necessary to perform the essential functions of the position effectively.

Educational Background:
A university degree in a relevant field is required, with a preference for candidates holding a postgraduate degree or specialized training in career counseling. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that candidates have received quality education that meets international standards.

Experience:
Candidates should have previous work experience in a similar role, demonstrating a solid understanding of the labor market and employability challenges faced by third-country nationals. Experience working in a multicultural environment is preferred, as it enhances the candidate's ability to relate to and support diverse beneficiaries effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Greek is mandatory for this position, both oral and written. Proficiency in additional languages such as French or Spanish is considered a plus, as IOM's official languages include these. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and oral assessments to ensure candidates meet the communication requirements of the role.
