Job Overview: The Manager of Infrastructure Engineering at the World Bank Group plays a crucial role in leading the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organization's core IT infrastructure. Duties and Responsibilities: The Manager, Infrastructure Engineering, will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties, including: overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure; providing leadership for enterprise-wide networking infrastructure; leading engineering initiatives and strategic plans for infrastructure programs; managing relationships with technology vendors; developing IT policies and procedures; collaborating with organizational leaders to address deficiencies in solution architecture; ensuring infrastructure services are robust and cost-effective; and building and mentoring a diverse, high-performing team. The manager will also be tasked with delivering specific objectives within the first year, such as developing a comprehensive roadmap for infrastructure engineering initiatives, optimizing SAP ERP infrastructure, and implementing AI technologies to automate operations tasks.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, business administration, or a related field, along with at least 12 years of progressively responsible experience in IT and infrastructure engineering leadership roles. Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience is acceptable. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of direct, hands-on experience in core infrastructure engineering, including modern data center operations and enterprise networks. Proven experience leading large, geographically distributed infrastructure teams is essential, as is expertise in designing and implementing infrastructure architecture and achieving operational excellence.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as computer science, engineering, information systems, or business administration. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree must have extensive experience in relevant roles, demonstrating a strong foundation in IT and infrastructure engineering.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 12 years of progressively responsible experience in IT and infrastructure engineering leadership roles, or 15 years with a bachelor’s degree. A minimum of 10 years of direct, hands-on experience in core infrastructure engineering is required, ideally within large financial institutions, governmental bodies, or multinational organizations. Experience leading large, geographically distributed infrastructure teams is also necessary.
