Job Overview:
The position involves facilitating a training program aimed at enhancing the economic and social participation of women and girls in Mali, particularly in the context of energy transition initiatives. The consultant will be responsible for preparing and delivering training sessions that cover associative life, micro-enterprise management, and the use of solar-powered agro-food transformation kits. This role is crucial in empowering women by providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge to improve their livelihoods and reduce unpaid domestic work, thereby enabling them to engage more fully in economic activities. The training will primarily be conducted in Bambara, ensuring accessibility for the participants. The consultant will also be tasked with producing a comprehensive report that includes recommendations and practical tools for the participants to implement their learning effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will undertake several key responsibilities, including:
  • Preparing for the training by organizing logistics and finalizing educational content.
  • Developing a participant handbook and PowerPoint presentations for the training modules, ensuring they are engaging and illustrative.
  • Facilitating and animating all training modules, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and active participation from attendees.
  • Producing a training report that includes recommendations and practical tools for the participants. The training is scheduled to take place over eight working days from February 9 to February 27, 2026, and will be conducted in Bamako, Mali. The consultant will be expected to deliver high-quality training that meets the objectives of the program and contributes to the empowerment of women in the region.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree (BAC+5) or equivalent in fields such as economics, sociology, gender and development, population and development, or social protection. Additionally, they should have at least five years of professional experience in training facilitation and supporting women's groups, associations, and enterprises. Experience in entrepreneurship training, business management, and developing business plans for small and medium enterprises, particularly in the agro-food transformation sector, is essential. The consultant should demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree (BAC+5) or equivalent in relevant fields such as economics, sociology, gender studies, or development is required. This educational background is crucial for understanding the socio-economic dynamics affecting women's empowerment and the implementation of training programs.

Experience:
The consultant should have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in conducting training sessions and providing support to women's groups and enterprises. This experience should include a focus on associative life, business management, and entrepreneurship, particularly in sectors related to agro-food transformation. Proven experience in developing training materials and facilitating workshops is also necessary.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of instruction. Proficiency in Bambara or another local language is highly recommended to ensure effective communication with participants. Knowledge of English or another UN language is considered an asset but is not a requirement.

  • The consultant will be required to work full-time during this period and will be compensated based on the successful delivery of specified deliverables. Payment will be made in two installments: 50% upon submission of the training module and program, and the remaining 50% upon submission of the participant handbook and final report. The consultant is responsible for their own medical insurance during the contract period, and proof of coverage must be provided within the first month of the contract. The consultant will work closely with UN Women and will be expected to adhere to the organization's policies and standards of conduct.
