Job Overview:
The Finance and Administration Officer position at WFP is crucial for supporting the management of resources, budget tracking, forecasting, and reporting on key data. This role is designed to ensure that financial operations are conducted efficiently and effectively, allowing for the timely delivery of assistance to beneficiaries. The officer will be responsible for maintaining awareness of corporate finance strategies and resource management initiatives, contributing to the development of country-specific plans aligned with WFP's broader strategies. The position requires a proactive approach to financial reporting, budget monitoring, and administrative support, ensuring compliance with governance requirements and enhancing operational efficiency. The officer will also play a key role in guiding junior staff and representing WFP in various internal and external meetings, thereby contributing to the organization's mission of providing humanitarian assistance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance and Administration Officer will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: maintaining awareness of corporate finance strategies and resource management initiatives; contributing to the development of country-specific plans aligned with WFP's strategies; reporting on key financial data and project results; monitoring budgets and forecasting for ongoing and new projects; conducting regular bank reconciliations, disbursements, and cash management; providing essential administrative services and ensuring cost-effective service delivery; performing basic human resources functions related to staff benefits and recruitment; gathering data for accurate and timely reporting; assisting in the implementation of financial controls and performance analysis; guiding and supervising junior staff; representing WFP in meetings with other UN agencies and financial institutions; and ensuring preparedness for emergency situations to facilitate rapid response and resource deployment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in finance, business administration, accounting, or related fields. Alternatively, a first university degree in the same or related fields, combined with additional years of relevant professional experience, is acceptable. Membership in a recognized international accounting professional body, such as ACCA or CPA, is also required. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of financial management principles and practices, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced degree in finance, business administration, accounting, or a related field. A first university degree in the same or related fields, along with additional relevant professional experience, may also be considered. Candidates are expected to have a solid foundation in financial principles and practices, which is essential for effective performance in this role.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have experience in conducting basic financial analyses at the national and/or operational level. Experience in managing financial transactions and familiarity with financial reporting and compliance requirements are highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of working in finance and administration roles, preferably within humanitarian or development contexts.

Languages:
Fluency in English (C level) is mandatory, along with proficiency in the local language if it differs from English. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration within the diverse WFP environment.
