Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer will work under the direct supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at the WHO Jordan Country Office (WCO). The primary function of this position is to contribute to the Results Based Management framework of the WCO by monitoring and supporting periodic reporting, particularly focusing on donor projects related to pandemic preparedness and aligning with GPW14 priorities and national targets. The volunteer will engage in various activities, including monitoring the WHO Jordan Country Office Activity Work Plan for 2026, conducting field monitoring visits, producing assurance reports, assisting in data analysis, and supporting the PME team in evaluations. The role requires a proactive approach to ensure that the outputs of the projects are measured effectively and that periodic reports are produced for both internal and donor purposes. The volunteer will also assist in documenting technical and communication products related to donor projects, ensuring that all tasks align with the strategic objectives of the WHO in Jordan.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the monitoring and reporting of the WHO Jordan Country Office Activity Work Plan 2026 on a quarterly basis and as needed, focusing on output indicators and supporting periodic reporting on pandemic preparedness projects and other donor initiatives.
  • Conduct field monitoring visits to assess project outputs and produce assurance reports in accordance with the timelines outlined in project proposals.
  • Assist technical officers in providing supportive supervision for specific projects to ensure quality assurance.
  • Analyze data periodically, including value proposition statements and project achievements, to inform decision-making and reporting.
  • Support the PME team in conducting mid-term and end-of-project evaluations to assess project effectiveness and impact.
  • Produce periodic reports for the WHO Jordan Country Office, including reports for donors, ensuring that all information is accurate and comprehensive.
  • Assist in the documentation of technical and communication products related to donor projects, ensuring that all materials meet WHO standards.
  • Perform any other related tasks as required by the WHO Jordan Country Office to support its mission and objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. They should demonstrate accountability, adaptability, creativity, and professionalism in their work. Excellent planning and organizing skills are essential, along with effective self-management capabilities. The ideal candidate should also exhibit good judgment and decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure situations. Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation frameworks, as well as experience in health-related projects, will be advantageous.

Educational Background:
A degree in public health, social sciences, or a related field is required. Candidates with advanced degrees or specialized training in monitoring and evaluation, project management, or health systems will be preferred. Knowledge of health policies and systems, particularly in the context of Jordan, will be beneficial.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation, project management, or a related field. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in health-related projects, is highly desirable. Familiarity with data analysis and reporting processes will be an asset, as well as experience in conducting field visits and evaluations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of the WHO. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, given the local context and the need to communicate effectively with stakeholders in Jordan. Additional languages may be considered an asset, depending on the specific requirements of the projects.

Additional Notes:
This position is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in Amman, Jordan. The volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. National UN Volunteers in Jordan are entitled to a monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of JOD 916.06, as well as annual and learning leaves, free medical and life insurance, and access to various learning platforms. The living conditions in Amman are generally favorable, with a peaceful environment and a range of amenities available.
