Job Overview: The Partnership Intern position at the UN in China is designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to the development of public-private partnerships that align with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work closely with the UN Partnership and Financing Officer, gaining hands-on experience in organizing major events, preparing briefing materials, and supporting high-level meetings. The intern will play a crucial role in facilitating communication and collaboration between various stakeholders, ensuring that the objectives of the Cooperation Framework are met. The position is full-time and unpaid, requiring a commitment of five days a week, eight hours a day, for a duration of six months, starting on February 6, 2026.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Partnership Intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the UN's initiatives in China. Key duties include:
Assisting in the organization of major events hosted by the Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO), which involves logistical support and the preparation of briefing documents and speeches.
Compiling and preparing briefing and presentation materials, as well as background information on China's key policies and developments relevant to the UN's work.
Supporting the organization and follow-up of inter-agency and high-level meetings or events attended by the Resident Coordinator or RCO staff members.
Providing logistical and substantive support to incoming high-level UN delegations, ensuring that their needs are met during their visits. The intern will work under the supervision of the UN Partnership and Financing Officer, contributing to the overall success of the UN's partnership initiatives in China.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for this internship, candidates should have a field of study closely related to the internship's focus. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate proficiency in standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams, and possess strong analytical skills and the ability to build relationships with clients.
Educational Background: Candidates must be in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or be currently enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. program. Alternatively, applicants may have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or completion will be required during the application process.
Experience: While no professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the Partnership Intern position. This may include experience in project management, event organization, or research related to sustainable development or public-private partnerships.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this internship, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French is also beneficial, as it is another working language of the UN.
