Job Overview: The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Officer position at UNICEF Myanmar involves providing technical, operational, and administrative assistance in security management and services. The role requires the application of theoretical and technical skills in researching, collecting, analyzing, and presenting security-related information and data. The Security Officer will learn about organizational and UN system rules, regulations, and procedures related to security management and emergency/crisis preparedness. The position is crucial for ensuring the safety and security of UNICEF operations and personnel in Myanmar, particularly in development and humanitarian contexts. The officer will engage in security risk management, planning, and programmatic security information analysis, while also building partnerships and networks to enhance security measures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct security risk assessments and develop security plans to mitigate risks to UNICEF personnel and operations.
Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities, ensuring that security considerations are integrated into planning and operations.
Stay updated on security trends and developments in Myanmar and provide timely reports to management.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Security Risk Management, International Relations, Conflict Analysis, Intelligence Analysis, Diplomatic Studies, Conflict and Security, Counter Terrorism, or a related technical field. A minimum of one year of professional experience in global security risk management and/or security analysis is required. Demonstrated experience in security management and a solid understanding of the United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS) is highly desirable. Relevant experience in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts is also beneficial.
Educational Background: A university degree in a relevant field such as Security Risk Management, International Relations, Conflict Analysis, or similar disciplines is essential for this position. This educational background provides the necessary theoretical foundation for understanding complex security issues and developing effective management strategies.
Experience: The position requires at least one year of professional experience in security risk management or security analysis. Experience working in a UN system agency or organization as a security professional, particularly in developing countries, is considered a significant asset. Candidates with training qualifications for SSAFE/IFAK/WSAT and those who have conducted security analysis or conflict analysis will be preferred. Experience in working in various regions of Myanmar is also advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration in diverse environments.
