Job Overview:
The Localization & Language Review Volunteers will play a crucial role in the Tech Volunteers for Resilience (Tech4R) programme, which focuses on creating open-source solutions to enhance resilience and inclusive education. This specific assignment is part of the Gamified and Simulation-Based Safety Trainings for Children project, which aims to develop a digital platform for children aged 10-16 to learn safe behaviors in emergencies through gamified and augmented reality (AR) learning experiences. The volunteers will ensure that all educational content is accurately translated and culturally relevant, making safety education accessible to children and educators across different linguistic regions in Ukraine. The role requires a commitment to ensuring that the content aligns with emotional safety principles and is suitable for the target age group.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Volunteers will adapt language to enhance readability and inclusivity, ensuring that the content is age-appropriate for children. They will verify consistency in terminology, tone, and key phrases across all content modules. Collaboration with the Content, Psychological Safety, and Visual Design teams is essential to ensure that the wording aligns with the design and emotional intent of the project. Additionally, volunteers will conduct quality checks on the final localized versions before they are integrated into the platform and recorded for voiceover. They will also provide brief language notes to assist with future content updates and replication.

Required Qualifications:
Volunteers are expected to have strong language skills in Ukrainian and/or Russian, with a deep understanding of cultural nuances and emotional context. They should possess excellent translation and adaptation skills, particularly for educational content aimed at children. Familiarity with gamified learning and educational methodologies is advantageous. Volunteers should also demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

Educational Background:
While specific educational qualifications are not explicitly stated, a background in linguistics, education, psychology, or a related field would be beneficial. Experience in translation, localization, or educational content development is highly desirable.

Experience:
The position is suitable for individuals with varying levels of experience, from students to professionals, who have a passion for language and education. Previous experience in translation or working with educational content is a plus, but not mandatory. The role is open to anyone willing to volunteer their time and skills for a meaningful cause.

Languages:
Fluency in Ukrainian and/or Russian is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if it enhances the accessibility of the educational content across different linguistic regions.

Additional Notes:
This is an unpaid volunteer assignment, and the duration of the commitment is not specified. The role is designed to be flexible, allowing volunteers to contribute their time as per their availability. The position is focused on collaboration and teamwork, and it is an opportunity to gain experience in a meaningful project that aims to improve safety education for children in Ukraine.
