Job Overview: The Executive Board Programme Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting UN Women’s engagement with its Executive Board. This position involves providing technical, coordination, and analytical support to ensure the smooth functioning of intergovernmental bodies. The analyst will be responsible for coordinating preparations and logistical arrangements for the yearly Executive Board meetings, which includes drafting summaries of meetings, responding to inquiries regarding intergovernmental processes, and ensuring professional coordination with relevant UN departments. The role also requires the analyst to assist in communication efforts, manage budgets, and maintain the Executive Board website, ensuring effective coordination with IT teams. The position is temporary, lasting for 364 days, and is designed to support the Chief, Secretary to the Executive Board in all functions related to UN Women’s support of the Executive Board.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Executive Board Programme Analyst include:
Providing coordination and technical support for UN Women’s engagement with its Executive Board.
Coordinating preparations and logistical arrangements for the yearly Executive Board meetings, including drafting agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions.
Arranging meetings and briefings, including the preparation of Board documentation and responding to inquiries.
Ensuring inter-agency coordination for Executive Board meetings, including collaboration with other UN agencies.
Coordinating and preparing Executive Board field visits, including joint visits with other UN agencies.
Providing administrative support, managing budgets, processing expenses, and assisting with financial reporting.
Maintaining and improving the Executive Board website and providing technical support to the team.
Assisting with communication efforts, including managing social media accounts and drafting content.
Maintaining the distribution list of the Executive Board and managing correspondence. 1
Drafting and reviewing substantive correspondence and editing briefing notes and presentations. 1
Engaging with Member State delegates and maintaining professional relationships. 1
Performing other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Executive Board Programme Analyst position include:
A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
At least two years of progressively responsible specialized professional work experience in public relations, communications, donor relations, and advocacy at the national and international level.
Proficiency in the use of computers and office software packages, including MS Word and Excel, as well as database tools.
Familiarity with photo and video processing tools is also required.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as communications, political sciences, law, economics, public relations, journalism, or public administration. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to perform effectively in the role.
Experience: The position requires at least two years of progressively responsible specialized professional work experience in areas such as public relations, communications, donor relations, and advocacy. This experience should be at both national and international levels, demonstrating the candidate's ability to navigate complex intergovernmental processes and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with office software and web management systems is also essential, as is experience with photo and video processing tools.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is desirable. This linguistic capability is important for effective communication within the UN system and with Member States.
Additional Notes: This is a temporary appointment position for a duration of 364 days. The role may involve working under a temporary assignment for current UN Women staff or under a loan arrangement for staff members in the UN Common system.
