The position emphasizes knowledge management, data analysis, and reporting, requiring the specialist to maintain and update shared knowledge repositories and data related to SDG implementation, UNCT and RCO coordination, and various databases, contact lists, and trackers. The specialist will also support the documentation and dissemination of good practices, lessons learned, and case studies related to SDG implementation, contributing to the design and production of various written products and outputs. Duties and Responsibilities:
Partnerships, Resource Mobilization and SDG Financing: Support the mapping and analysis of existing and potential partners, including government entities, international financial institutions (IFIs), donors, private sector actors, civil society organizations, and foundations. Assist in the organization and coordination of partnership initiatives, meetings, consultations, and outreach activities, including preparation of agendas, background materials, and meeting records. Support partnership due diligence processes by collecting, organizing, and validating required documentation in line with UN rules, regulations, and procedures. Track and monitor funding pipelines, donor contributions, and partnership performance indicators. Conduct desk research and compile information on development trends, national financing instruments, and SDG-related funding opportunities.
Knowledge Management, Data Analysis and Reporting: Support data collection, consolidation, and analysis, including through UN Info and other platforms and sources. Maintain and update shared knowledge repositories and data related to SDG implementation, UNCT and RCO coordination, as well as various databases, contact lists, and trackers. Support the documentation and dissemination of good practices, lessons learned, and case studies related to SDG implementation, and the work of the UNCT and the RCO. Assist in organizing learning events, trainings, and communities of practice. Support internal capacity-building efforts and use of AI and digital tools. Contribute to the design and production of various written products and outputs.
Coordination & Administrative Support: Support RCO in the implementation of the Cooperation Framework (CF), including internal coordination within the UN Country Team and external coordination with partners. Coordinate internally with RCO colleagues and UN agencies to collect inputs, consolidate information, and follow up on agreed actions. Support planning, scheduling, and documentation of meetings, missions, and events. Assist in the preparation of briefing notes, talking points, presentations, and other materials for meetings with government counterparts, IFIs, and development partners. Support both logistical and substantive preparation for meetings, dialogues, workshops, and consultations related to RCO mandate. This position is for eleven months with the possibility of extension.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position should possess an advanced university degree in Public Policy, Development, Political Science, Social Policy, Social Development, Community Development, or other relevant disciplines. A minimum of five (5) years of professional work experience in programme implementation function or a technical capacity on SDGs is required. The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in statistical analysis and the ability to interpret complex datasets, as well as familiarity with SDG indicators and the capability to relate data analysis to sustainable development objectives. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to translate data insights into actionable recommendations for policy and strategy development. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, and experience in data collection and validation processes is required, demonstrating diplomacy and tact in negotiations. The candidate should also have experience in designing methodologies for data collection, analysis, and presentation, along with knowledge of ethical considerations and best practices in data management. Advanced skills in data visualization tools and software are required, as well as creativity and attention to detail in presenting data in an accessible and impactful manner. Proficiency in report writing, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner, is also necessary, along with the capability to work collaboratively in a team environment, contributing to shared goals and deliverables.
