Job Overview:
The Communications and Knowledge Management Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the Governance, Rule of Law, and Peacebuilding Hub at the UNDP Bangkok Regional Hub. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about promoting justice, human rights, and sustainable development. The intern will assist in the development of communication materials that highlight key areas of the team's work, including Gender Justice, Environmental Justice, and Digital Justice. The intern will also be responsible for expanding the team's social media outreach, managing digital platforms, and coordinating events and policy dialogues. This internship offers a unique opportunity to engage with stakeholders, partners, and donors while contributing to the promotion of inclusive justice pathways in the Asia-Pacific region. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Specialist and will be involved in various knowledge management activities to showcase project achievements and promote knowledge on Rule of Law, Justice, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security, and Human Rights.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will assist in a variety of duties and responsibilities, which include:
  • Communications and Outreach (50%): - Tracking viewership and engagement levels on multiple platforms. - Producing communication and advocacy instruments and materials, including newsletters, briefing materials, and press releases. - Coordinating and supporting communication activities across countries to ensure consistency of messaging and compliance with UNDP and donor guidelines. - Developing short- and long-term communication plans to ensure donor visibility and promote project activities. - Overseeing all communication-related activities of projects under the RoLHR unit, reporting on outputs and impact, and adjusting communications plans based on programme priorities and regional trends.
  • Knowledge Management and Event Coordination (40%): - Assisting in arranging logistics, preparing agendas, and coordinating with stakeholders for workshops. - Maintaining and updating the project’s knowledge management repository. - Supporting data collection and analysis on websites, social media, and other communication channels for monitoring and evaluation purposes. - Assisting the regional Community of Practice of the Governance, Rule of Law, and Peacebuilding Hub.
  • Other (10%): - Participating in team meetings and brainstorming sessions to provide input on strategy and content creation. - Supporting any other relevant tasks as identified by the supervisor and the RoLSHR team.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements: - Currently in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree; or - Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree; or - Have graduated no longer than 1 year from a bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent studies. Proven thematic knowledge on Rule of Law and Human Rights in Asia is considered an asset. Candidates should possess strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office productivity tools, and experience with software such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Sway, Airtable, or other data visualization tools. Experience in video editing is a plus. Excellent writing and drafting skills in English are required, along with good communication skills. Knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes candidates who are currently in their final year of a Bachelor’s degree, those who are enrolled in a Master’s degree program, or individuals who have graduated within the last year from a bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent studies. The preferred fields of study include Communication, Journalism, International Development, Law, Political Science, Sociology, or other related fields in Social Sciences or Humanities. Proven thematic knowledge on Rule of Law and Human Rights in Asia is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's suitability for the role.

Experience:
The level of experience needed for this position is relatively flexible, as the internship is open to candidates who are in their final year of undergraduate studies, currently enrolled in a graduate program, or have recently graduated. While specific professional experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest and motivation to work in an international organization, particularly in areas related to governance, rule of law, and human rights. Any relevant internships, volunteer work, or academic projects that showcase the candidate's engagement with these themes will be beneficial.

Languages:
The mandatory language requirement for this position is excellent writing and drafting skills in English, as well as good communication skills. Knowledge of other UN languages is considered an advantage, as it may enhance the intern's ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and contribute to the organization's global mission.

Additional Notes:
The internship is unpaid, but UNDP will provide a monthly stipend in accordance with its internship policy. For reference, the stipend for 2025 is set at THB 8,302.50 per month, with the amount for 2026 subject to change. Interns are responsible for all expenses related to the internship, including travel, accommodation, and health insurance. They must also obtain necessary visas and are not eligible to apply for or be appointed to any post in UNDP during the internship period. Interns are expected to work full-time, although flexibility is allowed for educational commitments. It is important to note that UNDP has a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual exploitation and misconduct, and all selected candidates will undergo rigorous reference and background checks.
