Job Overview: The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Support Assistant position is crucial for maintaining the safety and security of the UNFPA Country Office in Kabul, Afghanistan. The individual in this role will work closely with the National Security Analyst to monitor and report on security risks, ensuring compliance with established Security Risk Management (SRM) measures. The assistant will be responsible for maintaining vigilance against potential security breaches, responding to emergencies, and ensuring the security of office premises. This role also involves supporting field missions, documenting security incidents, and maintaining security equipment. The Security Support Assistant will play a key role in organizing and executing emergency drills and will provide administrative support as needed. This position requires a proactive approach to security and a commitment to upholding the values and mission of UNFPA.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Security Support Assistant will have a variety of responsibilities, including:
Maintaining constant vigilance against potential or actual security breaches and reporting incidents to the supervisor.
Monitoring compliance with Security Risk Management (SRM) measures and assisting in compiling required SRM data.
Ensuring the security of office premises and grounds, responding to emergencies, and reporting urgent issues.
Providing security support for field missions as required.
Assisting in implementing actions outlined in the Security Plan.
Documenting and reporting security events affecting UNFPA personnel, offices, and assets.
Ensuring the proper functioning of all assigned security equipment and reporting any irregularities.
Maintaining the Country Office bunker and emergency storage room, conducting regular inspections.
Participating in evacuation, fire, emergency response, and bunker drills. 1
Acting as fire warden during fire incidents. 1
Providing administrative support to the National Security Analyst and performing receptionist duties when required. 1
Carrying out other related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess secondary education as a minimum requirement. Prior experience with the UN system or an international NGO is desirable. A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in security is required. Candidates should have a working knowledge of English, both written and oral, and knowledge of the local languages Dari and/or Pashto is required. Computer literacy is essential, along with a First Aid/Emergency Trauma Bag (ETB) qualification. Experience with video surveillance equipment, radio, and other telecommunication equipment is also necessary.
Educational Background: The position requires at least a secondary education. Additional certifications or training in security management, emergency response, or related fields would be advantageous and may enhance a candidate's application.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in security, preferably within the UN system or an international NGO. Experience in managing security operations, conducting risk assessments, and responding to emergencies is highly valued.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of local languages, specifically Dari and/or Pashto, is required to effectively communicate within the local context and ensure safety protocols are understood and followed.
