Job Overview:
The intern position is situated within the Strategy, Planning, Results and Effectiveness Division (SPRED) of UN Women, specifically in the Strategic Planning Unit (SPU). The intern will support the rollout of the Planning, Monitoring and Reporting (PMR) Policy and Procedures, and assist in the development of Results-Based Management (RBM) learning materials. The role involves collaboration with Country Offices, Regional Offices, and Headquarters to implement planning, monitoring, and reporting procedures. The intern will also engage in capacity building and knowledge management, gaining exposure to UN Women’s organizational processes and contributing to the implementation of strategic initiatives. This internship offers hands-on learning opportunities and networking prospects within the UN Women framework.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of planning, monitoring, and reporting procedures by drafting communications, attending meetings, and ensuring quality assurance on pending actions. The intern will help roll out the PMR training package and organize training sessions in collaboration with Regional Offices and HQ colleagues. Additionally, the intern will support SPU’s Work Planning and Annual Reporting exercises by coordinating inputs from the team. The role includes developing communication materials using various tools such as SharePoint articles, PowerPoint presentations, and videos to enhance the visibility of the PMR Policy and RBM materials. The intern will also maintain and update the Planning and RBM intranet pages, ensuring that all information is current and accessible.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical and administrative skills, along with excellent writing, editing, and communication abilities. The ability to approach work with energy and a positive attitude is essential, as is the capacity to work independently and take initiative. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask are required, as well as proficiency in IT skills, particularly in web content management systems and PowerPoint development. Familiarity with gender issues and the UN system is considered an asset, and candidates should demonstrate effective interpersonal and teamwork skills to collaborate with a diverse range of colleagues.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have university studies in disciplines such as research, knowledge management, public administration, business management, law, or other relevant fields. They must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); have graduated with a university degree and commence the internship within two years of graduation; or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program that requires the internship as part of the program.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have relevant experience in administrative support, project management, or related fields. While specific years of experience are not mandated, familiarity with the UN system and gender issues will be advantageous. The intern should be proactive and demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team environment, as well as independently when necessary.

Languages:
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral, are mandatory for this position. A working knowledge of another UN language is considered an advantage, enhancing the intern's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and contribute to the organization's objectives.

Additional Notes:
The internship is designed to provide a stipend to interns who are not receiving financial support from other sources, helping to subsidize their basic living costs during the internship period.
