Job Overview:

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Civilian Observer will be responsible for a variety of duties including: managing office operations and providing logistical support to field teams; leading the formulation and management of economic analysis programs; developing projects that promote joint economic ventures; analyzing the implications of the ICJ decision; assisting in the development of confidence-building measures; identifying new development issues; planning and managing expert group meetings; finalizing socio-economic reports for submission; following up on community development projects; participating in project evaluations; producing regular reports on assistance to affected populations; maintaining contacts with UN sectors and international organizations; arranging field missions; and performing other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in economics, public administration, social science, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Candidates should demonstrate professionalism, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. They should also have a strong understanding of economic theories and concepts, as well as the ability to conduct independent research and analyze data from various sources.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in economics, public administration, social science, or a related field. A first-level university degree may be accepted if accompanied by relevant experience. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of economic analysis and policy formulation in the context of international relations and development.

Experience:
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in economics research and analysis, policy formulation, and the application of economic principles in development programs or related areas is required. Field experience is considered an asset, and candidates with technical knowledge and demonstrable experience in logistics will have an advantage in this role.

Languages:
