Job Overview:
The Regional Nurse Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the medical officers, nurses, and staff counselors in ensuring the health and safety of WFP personnel across the region. This position is vital for promoting health initiatives, conducting training sessions, and providing first aid and hygiene training. The nurse will be responsible for assessing health, safety, and environmental issues affecting WFP staff and offices, ensuring that the highest standards of medical confidentiality and ethics are maintained. The role requires a proactive approach to health promotion, including vaccination programs, health screenings, and wellness activities tailored to the specific risks faced by staff in the region. The nurse will also be involved in emergency response planning and will need to collaborate closely with various stakeholders to ensure effective health management and support for staff well-being.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Regional Nurse Assistant will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: maintaining professional ethics and confidentiality, ensuring a secure environment for handling medical information, providing timely communication and managing client queries, promoting health and safety through vaccination programs and health screenings, developing and monitoring health initiatives, expanding travel health services, leading ergonomic assessments, managing medico-administrative cases, consolidating health statistics, implementing staff health trainings, participating in emergency response planning, and collaborating with various departments to ensure staff protection measures are in place. The nurse will also be responsible for assessing and responding to increases in disease incidents among staff and providing appropriate support for mental health concerns.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a tertiary degree in public health nursing or other relevant healthcare qualifications. A professional trainer’s certification related to infectious diseases and first aid is also required. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical assessment skills, knowledge of nursing practices, and the ability to communicate medical risks effectively to non-medical audiences. Proficiency in MS Office and digital telemedicine tools is essential, along with the ability to build networks with local health authorities and organizations.

Educational Background:
A tertiary degree in public health nursing or equivalent healthcare qualifications is mandatory. Additional certifications related to infectious diseases, advanced life support, and first aid training are highly desirable. Continuous professional development and training in relevant health topics will be beneficial for candidates.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least five years of experience in healthcare, with a strong background in UN or NGO field operations. Experience in outbreak response, health initiative creation, and management of travel clinics is essential. The ability to conduct workshops and training sessions on various health programs is also required, along with a proven track record in managing health-related administrative tasks.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, while knowledge of English is considered an asset. The ability to communicate effectively in both languages will enhance the candidate's ability to perform in this role, especially in a multicultural environment.

This position is a fixed-term contract for one year, with the possibility of renewal. It is classified at the G5 grade level. The role is based in Dakar, Senegal, and may involve travel to other locations within the region.
