Job Overview: The position of Missions involves conducting technical diagnostics on access to water and sanitation, managing requests for water connections in precarious housing sites, and maintaining installations. The role also includes developing innovative projects aimed at improving living conditions in these areas. Since March 2020, SI has been active in France to address issues of water, hygiene, and sanitation precariousness across five territories. In partnership with water and sanitation operators in metropolitan areas and their foundations, the projects target populations living in precarious housing sites with limited access to basic services, including potable water, sanitation, and essential hygiene products. SI's strategy is to support local actors in finding concrete solutions by proposing improvements to sanitary conditions, including the installation of potable water services, sanitation infrastructure, and the development of pilot projects tailored to the context of each intervention area.
Duties and Responsibilities: The main responsibilities of the position include: conducting fieldwork to assess water and sanitation needs; managing project development and reporting; ensuring mobility in Île-de-France, Lille, and the Northern Littoral; and providing support to associations in the Northern Littoral area. The first 2-3 months will focus on the direct implementation of EHA activities, including diagnostics and establishing connections to potable water, as well as developing or resuming ongoing pilot projects and providing technical support. The role requires a proactive approach to project management and collaboration with local partners to enhance the effectiveness of interventions.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess technical knowledge related to drinking water regulations and basic plumbing skills. Additionally, they should have project management capabilities, including monitoring indicators and planning activities. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for building relationships with partners, teams, and the public. The ability to write clearly and work autonomously is also required.
Educational Background: A diploma in water-related technical fields or equivalent training in RPEHA Bioforce is required for this position. This educational background ensures that candidates have the necessary technical expertise to address the challenges associated with water and sanitation.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have 0 to 2 years of experience in a similar role. Experience in the humanitarian sector is also valued, with the same range of 0 to 2 years being acceptable. This allows for the inclusion of recent graduates or those with limited experience who are eager to contribute to humanitarian efforts.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication. Knowledge of Romanian is considered a plus, which may enhance communication with specific communities or partners.
