Job Overview:
The position involves conducting technical diagnostics on access to water and sanitation, managing requests for water connections in precarious housing sites, and maintaining installations. The role also includes developing innovative projects aimed at improving living conditions in these areas. The mission is particularly focused on addressing water, hygiene, and sanitation issues in five territories in France, in partnership with local water and sanitation operators and their foundations. The projects target populations living in precarious housing with limited access to basic services, including potable water, sanitation, and essential hygiene products. SI's strategy is to support local actors in finding concrete solutions by proposing improvements to sanitary conditions, including the installation of potable water supplies and sanitation infrastructure, as well as developing pilot projects tailored to the context of each intervention area.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of this position include: conducting fieldwork to assess water and sanitation needs, managing project development and reporting, ensuring mobility in Île-de-France, Lille, and the Northern Littoral areas, and providing support to local associations along the Northern coast. The first two to three months will prioritize the direct implementation of EHA activities, including diagnostics and establishing potable water connections, as well as developing or resuming ongoing pilot projects and providing technical support. The role requires a hands-on approach to project management and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess technical knowledge related to drinking water regulations and basic plumbing skills. Additionally, project management skills, including monitoring indicators and planning activities, are essential. Interpersonal skills for building relationships with partners, teams, and the public are also required, along with strong writing abilities and the capacity for autonomy in the role.

Educational Background:
A background in water-related technical training or equivalent qualifications, such as RPEHA Bioforce training, is required for this position. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of water and sanitation management.

Experience:
Candidates should have 0 to 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the humanitarian sector. This level of experience is necessary to ensure that the candidate is familiar with the challenges and dynamics of working in humanitarian contexts, particularly in water and sanitation.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory for this position, while knowledge of Romanian is considered a plus. Proficiency in these languages is important for effective communication with local partners and communities.

  • The role is based in the Northern Littoral area, and the salary will be determined based on experience, starting from EUR 2865 gross per month.
