Job Overview:
The Protection Team Leader (Protection TL) is a critical role within the DRC Protection Team in Central Darfur. This position operates under the line and technical management of the Protection Manager and the overall supervision of the Area Manager. The Protection TL is responsible for directly managing Protection field teams and ensuring the quality implementation of Protection activities as outlined by the Protection Manager. The role primarily focuses on individual protection assistance, case management, community-based protection, Protection monitoring, and Protection Information Management. The Protection TL is expected to support the capacity building of DRC staff and represent the organization in various coordination and technical forums when necessary. This position requires a proactive approach to integrating protection across all DRC sectors, ensuring that protection considerations are embedded in design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and implementation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Protection Team Leader will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including:
  • Project Management and Implementation: Implement Protection activities while managing program quality and budget across the field site. Organize the Protection teams’ work by setting up work plans according to the overall program plan, balancing workloads, and supervising staff work plans. Ensure that all stages of implementation adhere to plans and criteria set by the Protection Manager. Maintain a continuous presence on the ground to ensure quality implementation and provide technical advice to field project staff. Collaborate with the MEAL team to strengthen Protection and Information Management, including setting up standardized databases for protection. Collect and compile activity records and documentation for timely donor reporting.
  • Programme Development and Quality: Support the Protection Manager in developing strategic Protection documents and identifying programming gaps. Conduct training sessions for junior staff to enhance implementation quality, providing hands-on coaching and technical support.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning: Assist in generating analysis and updating the Protection risks matrix. Collaborate with the M&E team to ensure monitoring activities are integrated into protection interventions.
  • Finance, Procurement and Administration: Support financial accountability of the Protection program, ensuring timely Purchase Requests and adherence to DRC standards.
  • Coordination & Representation: Represent DRC in technical and coordination forums at Locality and State levels, coordinating with national, local, and international actors to ensure smooth implementation of activities.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Protection Team Leader position should possess the following qualifications: - At least 4 years of proven experience in implementing field-based Protection for Refugees, Returnees, and IDPs. - A minimum of 2 years of experience in a managerial role within the protection sector. - A comprehensive understanding of humanitarian and protection principles, including community safety and rights-based approaches. - Familiarity with Protection standards and guidelines, as well as Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) principles. - Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective multi-tasking, organizational, and prioritization abilities. - Demonstrated experience in representing the organization and negotiating with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a university degree or higher education in law, social sciences, or a related field, or possess equivalent work experience. Proficiency in computer skills, including the MS Office package, is also required.

Experience:
Candidates must have at least 4 years of proven experience in implementing field-based protection activities, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity. This experience should include a wide understanding of humanitarian and protection principles and their practical application in the field.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is mandatory, along with a good command of written and spoken English. Knowledge of one or more local languages from Darfur is considered an asset.

This position is a national contract with a duration of 6 months. The salary range starts from USD 00.00 per month, and the duty station is Umdukhoun. The start date is as soon as possible, and the closing date for applications is 22-01-202
