Job Overview: The PPH Associate (Partnership Manager) position is part of UNHCR's Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (PPH) team based in Brussels. This role is dedicated to building and managing partnerships with corporations, foundations, and high net worth individuals in Belgium and Luxembourg to support UNHCR's lifesaving work. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving fundraising growth from Brussels and will work closely with the existing PPH Associate and the PSP Officer. The PPH Associate will create and maintain strategic partnerships with corporates and foundations, focusing on developing key multi-year relationships to secure significant financial support for UNHCR's projects and programs. The role requires collaboration with various teams within UNHCR, including those in Brussels, The Hague, and the broader PSP network.
Duties and Responsibilities: The main tasks and responsibilities of the PPH Associate (Partnership Manager) include: identifying and developing strategic partnership and fundraising opportunities among Belgian and Luxembourgish companies, major donors, and foundations; focusing on the development of key multi-year relationships to obtain high-value financial support; preparing presentations, pitches, and partnership outlines; participating in meetings with private sector partners; developing prospect lists and donor cultivation strategies; drafting compelling partnership proposals in collaboration with regional and global teams; contributing to accurate and timely reporting to private sector partners; assisting with quarterly reporting, annual planning, and expense management; supporting the development and rollout of UNHCR's PSP strategy in Brussels; and performing any other tasks as required.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate must have completed secondary education (high school diploma) and preferably possess a UNESCO accredited higher education degree in Marketing, International Relations, Management, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field. A minimum of 3 years of relevant job experience with secondary education or at least 2 years of experience with a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in relevant fields is required. Proven experience in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with private sector donors, particularly in Belgium and/or Luxembourg, is essential. Experience with international humanitarian NGOs or UN organizations is an asset. Candidates should have a good understanding of the Belgian and/or Luxembourgish fundraising environment, demonstrated success in generating funding from private sector donors, and strong skills in grant and proposal writing, reporting, and communication materials. An affinity with UNHCR's mission and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a service-oriented manner are also important.
Educational Background: Candidates must have completed secondary education, with a preference for those holding a higher education degree in relevant fields such as Marketing, International Relations, Management, Business Administration, or Communications. A degree from a UNESCO accredited institution is preferred, as it demonstrates a recognized level of education that aligns with the responsibilities of the position.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant job experience for candidates with a secondary education or at least 2 years of relevant experience for those with a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree. Candidates should have proven experience in cultivating and managing relationships with private sector donors, particularly in the context of fundraising for humanitarian causes. Additional Notes: The successful candidate will be based in UNHCR's office in Brussels, Belgium. This position is associated with a yearly contract that is valid until the end of the year, with the possibility of renewal on an annual basis. It is a full-time role, with working hours from 9 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. The salary for this position is aligned with the local UN General Service (GS) salary scale.
