Job Overview: The Associate, Human Resources position at PSI's Regional Office in Kenya is a hybrid role that requires on-site work for a minimum of three days per week. This role is crucial for supporting the day-to-day HR operations, which include recruitment coordination, employee records management, onboarding, and HR reporting. The Associate will collaborate closely with global and HR Network teams to deliver efficient, compliant, and people-centered HR services that empower staff to excel in their roles. The position is designed to enhance the overall HR function within the organization, ensuring that staff are well-supported and aligned with PSI’s mission of improving health outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Associate, Human Resources include:
Recruitment & Onboarding: Supporting recruitment processes by ensuring alignment with organizational standards and local legal requirements. Facilitating the onboarding process for new staff, including orientation on employment terms and organizational policies.
Employee Relations & HR Administration: Maintaining accurate and confidential personnel records, interpreting HR policies, and providing guidance on employee benefits. Acting as a liaison between staff and HR management for general inquiries.
Compliance & Contract Management: Preparing and administering employment contracts in accordance with local labor regulations, monitoring probation periods, contract renewals, and terminations.
Payroll & Benefits: Assisting in the preparation of payroll data, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, and administering employee benefits.
Learning & Development: Coordinating training and development initiatives, supporting performance management processes, and promoting a culture of continuous learning.

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in a related field and have at least three years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Candidates should have a working knowledge of HR operational functions and compliance requirements, along with excellent organizational and administrative skills. Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment are essential. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and familiarity with HRIS-based software, ATS, and LMS systems is required. Candidates should also demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required. International equivalents are acceptable. The educational background should provide a solid foundation in HR principles and practices, as well as an understanding of compliance and operational functions within an HR context.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of related experience in human resources or a similar field. Candidates should have experience in HR operational functions, compliance, and employee relations. Experience working with international staff or within Host Country Agreement frameworks is preferred, as it demonstrates an understanding of the complexities involved in HR management in diverse environments.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if it aligns with the regions where PSI operates, enhancing communication with diverse staff and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is classified as hybrid, requiring on-site work at least three days a week. Candidates must be legally authorized to live and work in Kenya, as visa sponsorship is not available. The role offers a competitive salary range of $19,000 to $35,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
