Job Overview:
The Communications Analyst position is crucial for the UNDP Country Office in Kazakhstan, where the incumbent will play a key role in developing and implementing the communications strategy. This role involves working closely with various stakeholders, including government officials, media, and civil society, to enhance public outreach and mobilize support for UNDP's initiatives. The Communications Analyst will be responsible for adapting UNDP's global communication strategies to the local context, ensuring that the organization's work is effectively communicated to diverse audiences. The position requires a proactive approach to public relations, advocacy, and media engagement, with a focus on promoting the visibility of UNDP's programs and results. The incumbent will also lead efforts to integrate communication strategies into development programs, ensuring that advocacy and outreach are embedded in all aspects of UNDP's work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Analyst will implement internal and external communication strategies, conduct communications needs assessments, and design outreach strategies aligned with the country office's strategic priorities. Key responsibilities include leading media engagement strategies, drafting communication plans, and monitoring the effectiveness of outreach efforts. The incumbent will supervise the development of content for various communication products, manage social media platforms, and coordinate publication activities. Additionally, the Communications Analyst will promote UNDP's campaign initiatives, organize events, and maintain relationships with stakeholders to enhance awareness of UNDP's mandate and goals. The role also involves knowledge management, providing training to UNDP staff, and ensuring that best practices are documented and shared.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Communication, Journalism, International Relations, Public Administration, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of relevant experience will be considered. The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience at the national or international level in public relations, advocacy, or communications. Advanced knowledge of content creation and management applications, including Microsoft 365, Canva, and social media management platforms, is essential. Proven ability to conceptualize and execute communication strategies, particularly in social media, is desired. Experience working with UN or international organizations and integrating gender considerations into communication efforts is an asset.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in Communication, Journalism, International Relations, Public Administration, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the stated areas, combined with two additional years of qualifying experience, will also be considered. This educational background ensures that candidates have the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively manage communications in a complex international development context.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience for candidates with a master's degree or four years for those with a bachelor's degree. This experience should be at the national or international level in public relations, advocacy, or communications. Candidates should demonstrate advanced knowledge of content creation and management applications, as well as a proven track record in developing and implementing communication strategies. Relevant experience in journalism, particularly with local and international media, is highly desirable, as is experience working with UN or other international organizations.

Languages:
Fluency in English, Kazakh, and Russian is required for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, media, and civil society. The ability to communicate clearly and persuasively in multiple languages will enhance the incumbent's effectiveness in promoting UNDP's initiatives and engaging with various audiences.
