Job Overview: The Senior Operations Assistant position is situated within the Fragility and Engagement Division of the Climate Change and Sustainable Development Department at ADB. This role is crucial for providing both technical and administrative support to ensure the smooth functioning of the division's operations. The Senior Operations Assistant will be involved in various tasks that include supporting poverty and social analysis, managing budgets and technical assistance, coordinating travel and logistics, preparing documents, and facilitating knowledge management and partnerships. The position requires a proactive approach to ensure that all operations align with ADB's policies and protocols, particularly in areas related to disability-inclusive development and aging-related issues. Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Operations Assistant will be responsible for a comprehensive range of duties, including but not limited to: supporting poverty and social analysis initiatives, particularly those that focus on disability-inclusive development and aging-related challenges; assisting in the management of budgets and technical assistance resources, including monitoring and reporting; coordinating mission travel arrangements and providing logistical support; leading the planning and execution of knowledge and learning events to ensure their successful delivery; conducting quality assurance reviews of documents, communications, and presentations to maintain adherence to ADB standards; arranging and coordinating meetings with both internal and external stakeholders; supporting partnership and engagement activities; ensuring effective communication and coordination within the division and with other departments; and performing any additional duties as outlined in the annual work plan.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Senior Operations Assistant position must possess a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, information technology, communications, or a related field. Additionally, applicants should have at least five years of relevant professional experience, ideally within a development or international organization that operates in a multicultural environment. Proficiency in written and verbal communication, as well as presentation skills in English, is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced competencies in organizational coordination, logistics, and administration, and must be capable of working independently in a dynamic and diverse organizational context.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position is a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business administration, management, information technology, or communications. Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience. Additional Notes: This is a fixed-term appointment with the possibility of renewal, initially for a period of up to three years or until the Normal Retirement Date (NRD), whichever comes first. The decision to renew the appointment will be based on various factors, including the staff member's performance, the need for their specific skills, and the availability of funding. Staff currently on probation are not eligible to apply for this position. Furthermore, applicants for promotion or lateral transfer must have served in their current position for at least one year prior to the vacancy closing date. The appointment is not convertible to a regular appointment, and all eligibility rules for housing loans and mortgage interest subsidies will apply.
