The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is a prominent intergovernmental platform established to foster cooperation among its 53 member States and 9 associate members. Job Overview:
This internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is situated within the Communications and Knowledge Management Section (CKMS) of the Office of the Deputy Executive Secretary for Programme Support (ODESPS) at ESCAP. The intern will work under the guidance of the Chief of CKMS and Public Information Officers, contributing to various strategic communications and digital outreach initiatives aimed at enhancing the visibility of ESCAP's work among key stakeholders and the general public. The internship is designed to be full-time, requiring a commitment of 37.5 hours per week, and spans a minimum of 3 months to a maximum of 6 months, with flexibility in duration and modality based on the successful candidate's needs. The intern's daily responsibilities will vary according to their background and the internship period, providing a rich opportunity for hands-on experience in the field of communications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will engage in a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: drafting and editing content for public information materials such as press releases, newsletter articles, brochures, presentations, and feature stories; producing podcasts, social media posts, and multimedia content for ESCAP's social media channels; supporting the development and coordination of social media campaigns; creating multimedia materials for both online and offline products, including infographics, social media cards, motion graphics, short videos, publication covers, branding templates, and event flyers; assisting with photography and video production, which includes event coverage, drafting scripts and storyboards, and post-production editing; managing the ESCAP multimedia database and audiovisual assets; organizing and executing ESCAP public events and commemorations; conducting background research for public information materials; assisting with the ESCAP Briefing Programme; and exploring and proposing new communications and digital outreach initiatives to enhance the visibility of ESCAP's work.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not a requirement for the UN Internship Programme, candidates should have a field of study closely related to the internship they are applying for. Proficiency in standard software applications, including MS Office, social media, and multimedia production applications, is essential. The ability to draft feature stories, news articles, and/or social media posts is highly desirable, as is familiarity with Adobe Creative Studio, CapCut, and Canva.

Educational Background:
Candidates are expected to have a strong educational background relevant to the internship. This includes being enrolled in or having completed a graduate program or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree program. The field of study should ideally align with the responsibilities of the internship, particularly in communications, media, or a related discipline.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic or practical experience in communications, media production, or a related field. This could include coursework, projects, or volunteer work that showcases their skills and knowledge in strategic communications and digital outreach.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this internship, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French, which is another official UN language, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application. Proficiency in additional UN languages could further strengthen the candidate's profile.
