Job Overview:
The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Driver position is crucial for ensuring the safe and secure transportation of UN personnel, consultants, and experts within Iraq, particularly in areas with heightened security threats. The role involves functioning as a driver within a team of security personnel, adhering to UN security policies and procedures, and maintaining a high level of vigilance and responsibility for the safety of all passengers. The Security Driver is expected to demonstrate a client-oriented approach, work effectively with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds, and maintain close communication with security personnel during all movements. This position requires a proactive approach to planning secure transportation routes, ensuring optimal vehicle maintenance, and providing security support as needed. The Security Driver will be supervised by the Field Security Specialist and will play a vital role in the overall safety and security operations of the UNDP Iraq Country Office.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure safe and secure transportation of personnel by functioning as a driver within a security team, transporting staff members to various destinations while adhering to UN security policies.
  • Maintain responsibility for the safety and security of all passengers, applying knowledge of UN security policies, and ensuring compliance with all regulations.
  • Drive both non-armoured and armoured vehicles, maintaining communication with security personnel during movements.
  • Plan secure transportation routes in collaboration with UNDP and UNDSS Security Units, ensuring passenger safety at all times.
  • Maintain liaison with local security authorities and assist in reconnaissance of routes prior to movements.
  • Ensure optimal vehicle maintenance, keeping vehicles operational and well-maintained, and conducting daily checks before missions.
  • Keep vehicle log books and records of mileage and fuel consumption.
  • Assist the UNDP Security Unit in executing their duties and participate in team training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the office and organization.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires secondary education and a valid driver’s license. A minimum of three years of experience in security services, civilian police force, military police, or relevant military operations with a safe driving record is essential. Candidates should have experience in the basic use of computers and relevant office software, knowledge of driving regulations, and skills in minor vehicle repair and maintenance. Relevant experience with UN/UNDP or international organizations is preferred, along with knowledge of protocols and security requirements. Previous training and experience as a Close Protection/Personal Security Team Driver is advantageous, as is familiarity with relevant communication equipment and applications. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multicultural environment are also required.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess at least a secondary education level. A valid driver’s license is mandatory for this position, ensuring that the candidate is legally permitted to operate vehicles in Iraq.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in security services, civilian police force, military police, or other military operations. Experience with UN/UNDP or international organizations is highly desirable, as is familiarity with security protocols and requirements. Candidates should also have experience in vehicle maintenance and minor repairs, as well as proficiency in using basic office software and web-based management systems.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Kurdish is required for this position, as effective communication is essential for the role. Fluency in Arabic is considered a desirable asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to interact with a broader range of stakeholders in Iraq.
