Job Overview:
The Principal Manager position at the EBRD Brussels Office is a pivotal role that involves coordinating the Bank's relations with EU institutions and stakeholders. This position requires a deep understanding of the EU's policy-making processes and the ability to navigate complex relationships with various stakeholders. The Principal Manager will also be responsible for organizing senior-level visits to Brussels, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across different teams within the Bank, and contributing to the development of strategic papers for management approval. The role is integral to enhancing the Bank's engagement with the EU, which is crucial given the EU's role as a shareholder and major donor to the EBRD.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Principal Manager will have a wide range of responsibilities, including liaising with various departments within the Bank to maintain an overview of relationships and policy initiatives with EU institutions. The individual will lead internal discussions on the Bank's engagement strategy with the EU, prepare strategy papers, and identify opportunities for deeper collaboration. This includes organizing structured visits for senior officials, managing relationships with EU contacts, and representing the Bank in discussions with EU institutions. The role also involves monitoring developments in EU policies that affect the Bank's operations and ensuring that the Bank's input is considered in relevant EU policy papers. The Principal Manager will act as a resource for colleagues on EU policies and will be responsible for logistical support for visits and events.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree from a leading university and a postgraduate degree in a relevant field. A minimum of 7 years of professional experience is required, with a strong working familiarity with EU institutions and policy-making processes. Candidates should have a good understanding of EU external relations policies and economic issues relevant to the Bank's operations. Strong analytical and research skills, excellent communication abilities, and interpersonal coordination skills are essential. The ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively in a team environment is also important.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have a degree from a reputable university, complemented by a postgraduate degree in a field relevant to the role, such as international relations, public policy, or economics. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of EU institutions and policies.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience, ideally gained through substantive work within EU institutions or in roles that involve significant interaction with EU policy-making processes. Experience in international financial institutions or with EU cooperation programs is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent drafting skills being a prerequisite. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those of EBRD member countries, would be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
