Job Overview:
The Nurse position at the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Ankara, Turkiye, is a critical role that involves providing comprehensive nursing care to migrants and refugees undergoing health assessments. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Chief of Mission or Chief Migration Health Officer, ensuring that all medical examinations and procedures meet the technical requirements set by resettlement countries. This position requires a proactive approach to patient care, including conducting medical examinations, collecting samples, administering vaccinations, and managing tuberculosis (TB) treatment. The nurse will also be responsible for educating migrants about the health assessment process and ensuring proper documentation and follow-up care. The role demands a high level of professionalism, empathy, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including other health providers and UN agencies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Nurse at the MHAC include performing daily nursing activities such as conducting medical examinations, checking vital signs, and collecting blood, urine, or sputum samples. The nurse will also be responsible for administering vaccinations, managing TB treatment, and ensuring proper documentation and information transmission. Additionally, the nurse will provide pre and post-counseling to migrants regarding TB and HIV education, maintain the MHAC pharmacy and medical kits, and assist with mobile missions as needed. The role requires maintaining accurate records of applicants, verifying identification, and ensuring compliance with health assessment protocols. The nurse will also prepare administrative reports and collaborate with various partners to facilitate information sharing and follow-up care.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution, along with a valid nursing license in the country of duty station. The position requires fluency in both English and Turkish, both oral and written. Candidates should demonstrate excellent technical skills, particularly in phlebotomy, and have a solid understanding of clinical nursing principles, preventive care, and disease control. Experience in TB management, mass immunizations, and public health is highly advantageous. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, as well as proficiency in MS Office applications.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited academic institution. The nursing qualification must allow the candidate to fulfill the full scope of responsibilities as defined in the position descriptions. A valid nursing license to practice in Turkiye is also mandatory.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience for candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree, while those with a Diploma must have at least five years of relevant clinical experience. Candidates should have demonstrated expertise in clinical nursing, with a focus on patient safety and infection prevention. Experience in emergency care or a post-graduate diploma/degree in a clinical specialization is considered an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Turkish is mandatory for this position, both in oral and written forms. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered a plus, enhancing communication with diverse migrant populations.

This position is full-time and based in Ankara, Turkiye. The role may involve mobile missions and requires the nurse to perform medical escort duties when necessary.
