The consultant will be responsible for analyzing how corruption affects gender equality and the provision of social services, providing insights that can inform policy and programmatic responses to mitigate these impacts. The consultant will work closely with UNDP and other stakeholders to ensure that the study is comprehensive and addresses the specific needs of the community.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be tasked with the following duties and responsibilities:
Conduct a thorough literature review on the impact of corruption on gender equality and social services.
Design and implement qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to gather data on the experiences of individuals affected by corruption in social services.
Analyze data collected and prepare a detailed report outlining findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
Engage with stakeholders, including government officials, civil society organizations, and community members, to validate findings and gather additional insights.
Present findings to UNDP and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring that the implications for policy and practice are clearly articulated.
Ensure that all work is conducted in accordance with ethical research standards and UNDP guidelines.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
Proven expertise in research methodologies, particularly in the context of social sciences.
Strong understanding of corruption issues, particularly as they relate to gender and social services.
Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and actionable recommendations.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings to diverse audiences.
Familiarity with UNDP's work and its mission in promoting sustainable development and gender equality.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree in social sciences, public policy, gender studies, or a related field is required. A PhD in a relevant discipline would be an advantage. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in research methods and an understanding of the socio-economic factors influencing corruption and gender issues.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in conducting research, particularly in the areas of corruption, gender studies, or social services. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of development projects, is highly desirable. Proven track record of delivering high-quality research outputs and engaging with stakeholders is essential.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as the study will be conducted in Mali where French is the official language. Proficiency in English is also desirable, as it may be necessary for reporting and communication with international stakeholders. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Mali would be an asset, enhancing engagement with local communities.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is expected to be a short-term contract lasting for 30 working days over a three-month period. The position is classified as a national consultant role, and candidates must be residents of Mali or have the legal right to work in the country. The consultant will be compensated according to UNDP's rates for individual contractors, and benefits will be outlined in the contract.
