Job Overview: The Prospect Researcher Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting UNICEF's Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships (PSFP) section, specifically within the Global Philanthropy team. This position is designed to enhance income growth from major donors and family foundations by establishing best practices and building capacity across philanthropy programs, particularly for National Committees. The consultant will be responsible for prospect research, portfolio optimization, and the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure effective donor management and accountability. The consultant will also engage in change management processes to facilitate the adoption of new practices and systems within the organization, ultimately driving greater consistency and effectiveness in fundraising efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be tasked with several major responsibilities, including:
Metrics and KPIs: Utilizing knowledge in change management to help teams understand performance measures, developing process documents and workflows, and establishing a system for regular KPI reviews.
Data Capture & CRM Systems: Collaborating with market-level colleagues to assess current CRM systems, identifying gaps in data collection processes, and recommending enhancements for comprehensive data capture.
KPI Measurement and Reporting: Evaluating the current use of reports and dashboards, making recommendations for alignment with best practices, and training team members on new reporting tools.
Training and Capacity Building: Leading training sessions for fundraising staff on prospect research best practices and guiding them in identifying top prospects.
Prospecting for Non-Cash Assets: Developing strategies to unlock non-cash assets, engaging with family offices and wealth advisors, and designing product prototypes to drive giving in this area. The consultant will also be responsible for managing their own equipment and ensuring compliance with UNICEF's travel policies when required to travel for specific projects or trainings.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess scrupulous attention to discretion and confidentiality, with the ability to handle sensitive information appropriately. Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required, along with a strong customer service approach. Familiarity with CRM technologies, particularly Salesforce, and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel are necessary. Knowledge of GDPR laws and the philanthropic landscape is also required, along with experience in leading change initiatives and adapting teams to new processes.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in International Relations, Social Sciences, Marketing, Communications, Business, Non-profit Management, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first university degree combined with two years of relevant professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
Experience: A minimum of eight years of relevant professional experience in prospect research or data collection and analysis within the non-profit sector is required. Candidates should have experience leading initiatives that focus on the people side of change, including developing strategies and training to ensure smooth adoption of new processes.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of another official UN language or the language of the National Committees is considered an asset.
Additional Notes: The Long-Term Agreement (LTA) will be for a duration of three years with a fixed fee rate, subject to satisfactory performance evaluation. UNICEF does not guarantee any quantity of services during the term of the LTA, as this will depend on forthcoming needs. The consultant will work remotely and may be required to travel for specific projects, with travel arrangements needing prior approval from UNICEF.
