Job Overview:
The Team Leader for Economic Recovery will be responsible for managing and technically leading the field implementation of DRC’s Economic Recovery projects in the West Coast of Yemen. This role encompasses overseeing multi-sector activities that focus on market-based livelihoods, value chains, and enterprise development. The Team Leader will work closely with various sectors including Protection, CCCM, WASI, Partnerships, and MEAL departments, as well as with implementing partners. The position aims to ensure that interventions contribute to sustainable economic recovery and local economic growth, aligning with DRC’s strategic shift from emergency response to development-oriented programming. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with strong management, technical, and coordination skills, ensuring high-quality, timely, and accountable delivery that meets donor requirements and DRC standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Team Leader will have a range of responsibilities including: leading, supervising, and mentoring the Economic Recovery field teams to ensure clarity of roles and professional growth; developing and monitoring detailed work plans, procurement plans, and field activity schedules; overseeing the planning, implementation, and monitoring of livelihoods and market development activities; facilitating regular team meetings and coaching sessions to enhance team efficiency; ensuring a safe and inclusive team culture; providing technical guidance on market-based livelihoods and vocational training; overseeing the implementation of vocational skills training and business development support; coordinating with DRC’s sector teams to ensure a harmonized approach; representing DRC at relevant forums; initiating procurement of goods and services; ensuring compliance with financial and procurement guidelines; and submitting timely reports and updates to the Economic Recovery Manager.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least 4 years of professional experience in humanitarian assistance, particularly in livelihoods, market systems, and enterprise development programming, preferably in fragile or post-conflict settings. Proven experience working in the West Coast and/or Al Khawkhah is essential, along with experience in implementing early recovery or transition programs that link cash and livelihoods support to sustainable market outcomes. Candidates should also have experience in gender-transformative programming in conservative contexts, strong experience in partner management, community mobilization, and coordination with government entities, as well as excellent communication and representation skills.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Economics, Business Administration, Agricultural Engineering, or related fields is required. A postgraduate degree or diploma in Project Management, Humanitarian Response, or Livelihoods is considered an asset.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in humanitarian assistance, with a focus on livelihoods and market systems. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in fragile or post-conflict settings, particularly in the West Coast region of Yemen, and experience in implementing programs that link cash and livelihoods support to sustainable market outcomes.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory, with excellent written and spoken skills in both languages. Strong report writing skills in English are also required, while proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
The contract length for this position is until June 30, 2026, and it is classified under the Management (G) band. The position reports to the Economic Recovery Manager and is expected to start as soon as possible. The duty station is Khokha - Roving, Yemen. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s National Terms of Employment.
