Job Overview:
The intern will support the Food Systems practice within UNDP's Nature, Climate, and Energy team. This role involves assisting in the preparation and organization of various outreach activities, including calls, webinars, and workshops aimed at engaging partners and donors. The intern will also maintain knowledge management tools and support the Community of Practice for the Food Systems initiative. This position requires a proactive approach to stakeholder mapping, research, and communication, with a focus on enhancing the visibility and impact of UNDP's Food Systems strategy. The intern will be expected to contribute to the development of presentations, briefing notes, and other communication materials, while also engaging in research related to sustainable development and food systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's responsibilities include:
  • Assisting in the preparation and organization of calls, webinars, and virtual workshops to support outreach to partners and donors.
  • Maintaining knowledge management tools and virtual collaborative platforms for the Food Systems practice, including SharePoint, Google Docs, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Supporting the internal filing system and database management for FPI Partners.
  • Assisting in the preparation of presentations, slide decks, briefing notes, and meeting minutes.
  • Conducting stakeholder mapping to identify donors, strategic partners, and grassroots networks.
  • Assisting in research related to potential donors and fundraising opportunities.
  • Drafting and updating communications content, including social media promotion and website updates.
  • Performing other related tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) in fields such as sustainable development, environment, agriculture, political economy, economics, international development, or social/political sciences; or
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in the aforementioned fields; or
  • Have graduated with a university degree in the specified fields and must start the internship within one year of graduation.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes enrollment in or completion of a university degree program related to sustainable development, environment, agriculture, political economy, economics, international development, or social/political sciences. Candidates should be in their final year of undergraduate studies or pursuing a graduate degree, or have recently graduated within the last year.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have experience in data collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation. Additionally, experience in communications, writing, and editing is essential. Familiarity with sustainable development, climate issues, food systems, or social change-related organizations is considered a plus, as it aligns with the responsibilities of the internship.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be beneficial but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This internship is unpaid, but UNDP may provide a stipend in accordance with its internship policy. Interns are responsible for securing their own medical insurance and must provide self-certification of good health prior to starting the internship. The intern will report to the Senior Food Systems Advisor and is expected to work either in-person or remotely, with specific conditions regarding workspace and equipment. There is no expectation of employment with UNDP following the internship, and interns are not considered staff members. Important notes include that interns cannot apply for or be appointed to any position during their internship period.
