Job Overview:
The UNV ROLAC Communications Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (ROLAC) by developing and delivering content that highlights the contributions of UN Volunteers and promotes the value of volunteerism. This position involves leading editorial planning and production for the UNV website, ensuring alignment with global communications priorities. The specialist will research, curate, and edit narratives that reflect UNV's corporate priorities, packaging content in various formats such as reports, brochures, and multimedia. Additionally, the role includes conceptualizing and coordinating creative communications campaigns, managing content workflows, and ensuring timely delivery across digital and in-person channels. The specialist will also support the implementation of the Regional Office communications annual work plan, engage with stakeholders, and advise on the strategic use of social media platforms to enhance UNV's visibility and outreach.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver evidence-based content that showcases UN Volunteers' contributions and promotes volunteerism.
  • Lead regional editorial planning and production for the UNV website, ensuring alignment with corporate guidelines.
  • Research, curate, and edit narratives that align with corporate priorities, packaging content in various formats.
  • Conceptualize and coordinate creative communications campaigns from inception to implementation.
  • Edit and publish content across digital and in-person channels, focusing on UNV mobilization and talent acquisition.
  • Implement tools and processes for Field Units to submit content for corporate communications.
  • Support the monitoring and reporting of the Regional Office communications annual work plan.
  • Identify trends and innovative approaches to improve communications products and processes.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to publish UNV communication products and promote joint campaigns. 1
  • Support Field Units in preparing media tools and key messages for corporate observances. 1
  • Advise on the strategic use of social media platforms and refine content for dissemination. 1
  • Ensure consistent application of UNV branding and content creation standards across outputs. 1
  • Review and guide the use of UNV branding in materials produced by Field Units.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to produce high-quality content.
  • Experience in managing communications campaigns and projects.
  • Familiarity with digital communications and social media strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using content management systems and digital tools.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, international relations, or a related field is required. A master's degree is preferred and may be considered an asset for this position.

Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in communications, public relations, or a related field is required. Experience working in an international organization or in a multicultural environment is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable, and knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
