Job Overview: The International Consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and the general supervision of the Chief of the Space Applications Section. The primary focus of this role is to lead the implementation of knowledge management for a project aimed at promoting crop biodiversity through innovative space applications in Southeast Asia. The consultant will be responsible for providing technical and management support during project implementation, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement, and developing reference materials to support technical assistance and capacity development. The consultant will also lead the monitoring and evaluation efforts, ensuring that project activities align with the evaluation plan. This position requires a proactive approach to knowledge management, including the development of knowledge products and promotional materials to enhance communication and knowledge sharing. The consultant will play a crucial role in documenting best practices and lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle, contributing to the overall success of the initiative.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the International Consultant include: 1) Leading the implementation of the project’s information and knowledge management strategy. 2) Providing technical and management support during project implementation, ensuring that all activities are executed effectively. 3) Offering technical assistance in implementing project activities and developing synthesis reports or lessons learned documents. 4) Leading the collection of baseline data and monitoring progress in accordance with the project’s evaluation plan. 5) Engaging with relevant stakeholders, including UN and government agencies, to meet their information communication needs. 6) Consolidating reference materials and resources to support technical assistance and capacity development. 7) Developing knowledge products related to the project and promotional materials on project-related topics to enhance knowledge sharing and communications. 8) Organizing capacity development activities to build the skills of stakeholders. 9) Facilitating the documentation of data, lessons learned, and best practices. 10) Producing an annual report summarizing project progress and outcomes. 11) Ensuring that all monthly accomplishment reports are submitted with supporting documentation to the satisfaction of the Project Manager and approved by the Section Chief.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the International Consultant position include a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a field related to International Studies or International Development Studies. Candidates must possess strong writing skills and have experience in space diplomacy and international cooperation. Proven capacity to manage multi-stakeholder processes in a public sector context is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerApps and Power BI, as well as design software and publication referencing software, is required. Additionally, candidates should have work experience with direct responsibilities related to coordinating knowledge management product development across projects, sectors, and countries, updating and maintaining online databases, conducting research and analysis, and contributing to publications and knowledge products.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in International Studies, International Development Studies, or a related field. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of international cooperation and development, particularly in the context of space applications and sustainable development.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have significant experience in relevant fields. This includes experience in coordinating knowledge management product development across various projects and sectors, maintaining online databases, conducting research and analysis, and contributing to publications.
