Job Overview: The Associate Director, Global Health Security (GHS) will play a pivotal role in leading technical areas related to zoonotic disease (ZD) and emerging infectious disease (EID) prevention, detection, and response within the EpiC project. This position requires a qualified and motivated individual who will actively implement project activities and provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MOAE), and provincial stakeholders. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Director, GHS include:
Serving as the primary liaison with the Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MOAE), and provincial agencies to facilitate collaboration in implementing GHS activities.
Planning, directing, coordinating, and organizing all zoonotic disease (ZD) and emerging infectious disease (EID) prevention, detection, and response activities, ensuring that all deliverables are accomplished within the designated timeframes and funding.
Supervising technical team members, providing guidance, performance monitoring, and capacity-building support to ensure efficient operations.
Collaborating with the EpiC Vietnam Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and Strategic Information (SI) team to track progress, evaluate outcomes, and ensure data-driven decision-making.
Ensuring timely preparation and review of deliverables, including reports, work plans, budgets, and publications.
Ensuring adherence to donor and organizational requirements regarding reporting, documentation, and data quality standards.
Coordinating with international and local subcontractors, working with technical staff to ensure that all activities and outputs are technically sound and appropriate.
Supporting and actively participating in donor meetings, technical working groups, and external forums alongside EpiC leads.
Performing other tasks as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Associate Director, GHS position include:
A master's degree in social science, public health, or a related field.
At least 8 to 10 years of relevant work experience, preferably in zoonotic disease (ZD) and emerging infectious disease (EID) contexts.
A minimum of 3 years of leadership and management experience in health program implementation.
Strong knowledge of global health security issues and key stakeholders in Vietnam.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government counterparts and coordinate various actors, including different ministries, provincial authorities, donors, and NGOs.
Proficiency in working efficiently in an IT environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Vietnamese.
Willingness and ability to travel as necessary for the role.
