Job Overview: The Logistic Technical Assistant – Fleet will be responsible for assisting in the daily implementation of the logistics function within NRC. This role involves adhering to NRC policies and guidelines, providing logistic administration and support, and preparing status reports as required by management. The assistant will maintain logistic records, manage suppliers and equipment, and contribute to the improvement of logistic functions. The position requires effective communication and teamwork, as well as the ability to work under pressure in a complex humanitarian context. The assistant will also be involved in the planning and delivery of logistic activities, ensuring that all operations align with NRC’s mission and standards.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Logistic Technical Assistant – Fleet include managing the fleet of NRC in the area office, planning staff and vehicle movements, ensuring that vehicles are roadworthy and clean, and maintaining in-vehicle documentation. The assistant will prepare and submit reports related to fleet, generators, and fuel usage, and will be responsible for movement planning for drivers. Additionally, the assistant will act as the focal point for movement requests from staff, manage vehicle rental contracts and payments, and contribute to the implementation of Safe and Inclusive Programming Minimum Standards across their area of work. Other responsibilities may include adhering to NRC policies, assisting with logistic administration, and performing other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Logistic Technical Assistant – Fleet position should possess basic experience working as a function officer in a humanitarian or recovery context, particularly in complex and volatile environments. A good knowledge of English, both written and verbal, is essential. The position requires fluency in English and a solid understanding of asset and fleet management needs within an INGO context. Candidates should demonstrate reliability, organizational skills, effective communication abilities, and the capacity to work well in a team under pressure. Basic analytical and IT skills are also desirable for this role.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a relevant field is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage logistics and fleet operations within NRC.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have prior experience in a humanitarian or recovery context, particularly in roles that involve logistics and fleet management. Experience in complex and volatile contexts is highly valued, as it prepares candidates to navigate the challenges associated with humanitarian work.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. While English is the primary language required, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication within diverse teams and with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is 6 months, with working hours set at 38 hours per week from Sunday to Thursday. The salary and benefits will be determined according to NRC’s salary scale and terms and conditions, specifically for the Gaza duty station. This position is open to residents of the Gaza Strip only.
