Job Overview:
The Project Support Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of protection programming within the IOM framework. This position involves providing administrative support and individualized case management for vulnerable migrants and victims of trafficking. The successful candidate will conduct intake interviews, needs assessments, and risk evaluations for both Cambodian and foreign migrants, applying IOM’s vulnerability model to assist those exposed to violence, exploitation, or abuse. The role requires maintaining regular communication with migrants to ensure they understand procedures and are prepared for each stage of assistance. Additionally, the Project Support Officer will engage with civil society actors, organize consultations, and draft status reports to identify and address any shortfalls in service delivery. This position is integral to ensuring that vulnerable populations receive the necessary support and resources to facilitate their safety and reintegration into society.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Support Officer include: conducting intake interviews and needs assessments for vulnerable migrants; applying IOM’s vulnerability model to assist individuals exposed to violence; providing individualized case management; coordinating humanitarian assistance with partners and local authorities; maintaining communication with migrants; engaging with civil society actors; organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions; drafting reports on service delivery; responding to inquiries; and maintaining accurate records and files. The officer will also perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor, ensuring that all tasks align with IOM’s mission and objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a school diploma with three years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited institution, along with two years of relevant professional experience. Accredited institutions are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a multicultural environment, and a commitment to IOM’s values and mission.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a school diploma with three years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields. The degree must be from an accredited academic institution recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that candidates have a solid foundation in the principles and practices relevant to migration and humanitarian assistance.

Experience:
Candidates should have experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national and international institutions, United Nations agencies, and non-governmental organizations. Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, and victims of trafficking is essential. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multi-cultural setting is considered an advantage, as it demonstrates the candidate's ability to navigate complex environments and understand the challenges faced by vulnerable populations.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Khmer is required, both oral and written. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly French and Spanish, is considered a plus, as IOM's official languages include these. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments to ensure candidates can effectively communicate in the required languages.

This position is subject to local recruitment, meaning only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Cambodia will be considered.
