Job Overview: The Drafting Technician position at UNRWA involves utilizing AutoCAD software to prepare all necessary drafting works for site surveys, schematic designs, concept designs, master plans, and detailed architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical drawings. The incumbent will also be responsible for creating 3-dimensional presentation drawings, diagrams, charts, and simple graphic works to assist team members with their presentation needs. This position requires collaboration with Division Heads to carry out daily operations effectively, ensuring that activities proceed smoothly. Additionally, the Drafting Technician will produce drawings for the remodeling of existing buildings and develop designs and detailed drawings for housing and shelters. The role may also involve other duties as assigned by the supervisor, making it a dynamic position that contributes significantly to the agency's mission.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Drafting Technician will be responsible for the following duties:
Prepare all drafting works necessary for the production of site surveys, schematic designs, concept designs, master plans, and detailed architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical drawings using AutoCAD software.
Create 3-dimensional presentation drawings, diagrams, charts, and simple graphic works to support team presentations.
Produce hard copies of designs and plans for supervisor review and approval.
Assist Division Heads in daily operations to ensure a continuous flow of activities.
Generate drawings for the remodeling of existing buildings.
Develop designs and detailed drawings for housing and shelters.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a post-secondary diploma from an accredited educational institution in civil, architectural, or structural engineering. Additionally, candidates should have advanced knowledge in specialized aided design software, and good knowledge of applying cost-effective designs is desirable. The position requires a strong understanding of drafting and design principles, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a post-secondary diploma in civil, architectural, or structural engineering from an accredited institution. Languages: For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is required. The required proficiency level for both English and Arabic is UN Level II, which indicates a competent ability to communicate effectively in both languages.
Additional Notes: This position is a Fixed Term Appointment for one year, with the possibility of extension based on the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and continuing need. The salary for this position is set at Grade 11, with a monthly basic salary of JD 710.1
Additional benefits include a monthly Provident Fund contribution (15.4% of basic salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and a dependency allowance if applicable. Employees are entitled to two days of sick leave for each completed month of service, 14 weeks of maternity leave, and two weeks of paternity leave. This vacancy is open to internal candidates only, and applicants must reside in Amman and have authorization to work in the duty station at the time of application. The agency will not facilitate work permits, and appointments may be rescinded without a valid work permit. The incumbent may be required to travel within the agency's area of operations and may need to work outside normal duty hours on an on-call basis. Preference will be given to registered Palestine refugees and candidates who assist the agency in achieving gender parity.
