Job Overview:
The Logistics Technical Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the Logistics Coordinator in the implementation of the NRC's project portfolio in Humera, Ethiopia. This position involves ensuring adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines while assisting in the coordination of logistics activities. The Logistics Technical Assistant will be responsible for maintaining proper documentation, promoting technical improvements, and ensuring effective communication with relevant partners and sectors. The role requires a proactive approach to logistics management, including procurement, fleet management, and store management, to ensure that all operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Technical Assistant will have a variety of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting in the procurement process to ensure compliance with NRC policies and procedures; supporting fleet management by optimizing resource allocation and maintenance; managing store operations by handling goods receipts, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring proper documentation; conducting regular stock reconciliations and inventory checks; reporting on stock balances and any issues related to storage; and collaborating with the Logistics Officer and Area Manager to address any logistical challenges that arise. The assistant will also be expected to contribute to the overall improvement of logistics processes and share ideas for technical enhancements.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or a related field. Additionally, applicants should have 1-2 years of work experience in a logistics assistant role or a similar position, preferably within a humanitarian or recovery context. A proven track record of documented results related to the responsibilities of the position is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate basic experience in logistics operations and the ability to work effectively in complex and volatile environments.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or a related discipline is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to perform the duties associated with logistics management effectively.

Experience:
The position requires 1-2 years of relevant work experience as a Logistics Assistant or in a similar role. Candidates should have experience working in humanitarian or recovery contexts, demonstrating the ability to navigate complex and challenging environments while achieving set benchmarks and objectives.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written English and Amharic is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional local languages is considered an asset and may enhance communication with local stakeholders and communities.
